277.1 | Band Of Gold | ASDS::KELLY | | Mon Jun 10 1991 15:25 | 7 |
| Frank Thomas played for a number of Mojer League teams. He played
third and occasionally hit HR's. The highlight of his career
hapened when he married Jill Cori who sang the immortal
"Band of Gold"
No Applause Please.

| Frank Thomas played for the Pirates until 1959, when he was traded to
the Reds in the deal that brought Harvey Haddix and Smokey Burgess to
the Bucs. He then bounced around for a while among a number of teams,
including the Mets and Braves. I didn't remember him playing for the
Red Sox, but I guess he spent some time with them.

| Oops. Don Hoak ( another in a long line of quality third sackers )
for the Bucs married Jill Cori. I think he must have played third
after Thomas.

277.7 | Frank Thomas was in Philly in 1964 | SHALOT::HUNT | Things that make you go 'Hmmmm' ... | Tue Jul 02 1991 19:51 | 10 |
| Frank Thomas was infamous in Philly for getting into a fist fight in
1964 with the Phillies' phenomenal rookie, Richie Allen.
The Phillies released Thomas shortly thereafter and that act alone
sparked a racial controversy in Philly.
And then, of course, we all know how the 1964 Phillies ended their
year.

277.9 | trying to find year of BoSox autographed ball | SMURF::BREAU | | Thu Jul 25 1991 13:01 | 26 |

I also have a Red Sox baseball signed by most or all of the team and
was wondering if someone could possibly pinpoint what year it's from.
Most likely it is from early to mid 60s. It has lots of autographs,
but some are fading and some are lousy writing, though the ball itself
is in great condition.
Here are the players/coaches that I could make out:
Rudy York
Frank Malzone
Russ Nixon
Lou Clinton
Galen Cisco
Carl Yastrzemski
Chuck Schilling
Mike Higgins
Ed Bressoud
Gary Geiger
Dick Radatz
Arnold Early
Pete Runnels
Any idea what year this Red Sox ball is from? Thanks.

277.10 | 1967 impossible dream ball... | BTOVT::SCHOFIELD_K | NFPN | Wed Mar 25 1992 09:27 | 16 |
| I have a 1967 Red Sox official autographed baseball with all the team
players signatures on it. The ball has been in a display case since
1967 and it is nice and white with no scuffs or smudges on it.
Some of the signatures include the likes of Yaz, The Hawk, Tony C, Rico
Petrocelli, Dick Willians, Reggie Smith, Jose Tartabull, Mike Andrews,
etc... All the players from the "impossible dream" team that year.
Can anyone tell me what the ball is worth? Is there a collectors
appraisal catalog or something like it that would list the ball?
My brother-in-law played pro-ball and him and his buddy thought it'd be
worth some good money.
Thanks,
Ken
