I heard over the weekend from a dealer that Pro Set is recalling all
the cases they have shipped! They released the set with seventeen (17)
unlicensed cards...
THIS IS ONLY A RUMOR.... I heard from a dealer at a show...

Sounds like a plot the dealers would make up to have an excuse to
jack up the price. Who in his sane mind would expect anyone to return
error boxes .... fishy, very fishy .

1991 Pro Set FB at the Salem Show on Sunday $16.00/BOX, Waxers still $.50.
There is a special Maryland card ala Jeff George #697 (I think). Also saw
(I believe it was) Walter Payton w/ Racing car Tire (Collectible Card).
There are about three "collectible cards" just like last year.
The cases are presently being sent to dealers.
Nothing heard of any return of cases to Pro-Set.

At the show that I attended last weekend at Park West Hotel in
Marlboro, the dealers were selling the Wax boxes for $14.50 - $15.00,
but I didn't buy any, because I know they will be available later
at BJ's for around $13 a box.

How about the Rocket man card? I believe its a World Football League
card. I seen at the shows its worth $6.00-$10.00. Pro-set has a few
good ones this time versus the pass. Last year they had the Super-pro
and the Santa Claus card before X-mas,lets see what they'll have this
year.

I opened a box last night and found 'Walter Payton' hold a tire
over his right shoulder, and a checkered flag waving in the background.
The card number was 'Special Collector's card 1'

263.10 | more rumors | DDIF::TANCILL | long may you run | Wed May 22 1991 12:53 | 13 |

More grist for rumor mill, a local dealer here in NH said that the
players association had files suit against ProSet for 13 (not 17)
unlicensed cards and that perhaps existing first boxes and/or the
13 cards would be recalled. Personally I think ProSet probably did
this on purpose to create some interest in their otherwise
uninteresting and low-quality cards. But it appears that if this is
indeed true, it may drive up the prices of the first issue boxes.
Anyone hear anything more on this?

| Out of five dealers that I called, one said that he called Proset and
they denied (Proset) that any cards were being called back for
any reason(s).
One dealer said that he saw a Whitney Houston card
at a card show selling for $10.00 to $15.00,and the card is only
worth five cents, and the only cards that are worth more are the
Red Grange Walter Payton and a rookie card #694 maryland

I just bought another box of Pro Set,and the distribution of cards
were nothing like the first box that I bought.
1st box had,1 Rocket,1 Payton,all the WFL cards,
and 1 Whitney Houston.
2nd box had,5 Paytons,4 Gazette's,and 1 Maryland #694.
There were no WFL players,no Whitney,no Rocket,no Gazette,
Heres a good one,I got 1 Walter Payton card with a blank front,
hows that for an Error,Becketts has it at $5.00,what is it
worth now ?

There will bo no #2 card in Series I.

| 263.14>>>> I seen the Whitney Houston card in the Beckett going
fot $1.50. But at the show I did see it going for $10.00-$5.00.
Also at the show they said their were three Red Grange cards.
I have one that looks like a black and white with him running.
Its listed as xx Horseman/Grange, my card has a #2 on the lower
right hand corner. No double xx's, he said the other one had
three horses on the front.

263.18 | Platinum | BSS::G_MCINTOSH | ULTRIX NETWORKS, CSC/CS | Wed Sep 04 1991 21:30 | 12 |
| I picked up Billy Joe Tolliver in Pro Set Platinum today. It's an
action picture on the front that's borderless. A circle is in the
lower corner with Pro Set Platinum on it. The card looks very shiny.
Coated I guess. To look at the back, you need to turn the card
lengthwise with the top 2/3rds another picture of the player and the
bottom 1/3 with information. No stats, but the name in a script hand,
the team, card number, NFLPA and PRO SET logos and a little blurp about
the player. They look very nice.
I saw packs going for $2.99 today. I paid .10 for this one card.

| regarding pro set platinum:
Supposedly "just" 10,000 cases. According to an article in SCD,
it will be a 300 card set, released in two 150 series. Boarderless
glossy finish similar to TSC. 12 cards per pack, reported dealer
price is $462 a 20-box case or $23.10/box. Suggested retail price
is $1.25 (where have we heard that one before?). Dealers like
Smokey's are offering to buy cases at $800 per, so it looks like
another issue that may be similar in pricing to stadium club.
The article states the above regarding pricing (i.e. it's not my
opinion). The article is very complimentary about both the front and
back photos, there are several subsets as well as certificates for
one-gram Platinum cards, about one per case.

They weren't moving. They weren't even attracting attention.

Series II is indeed out there. Most dealers have it for around $13-14.
These cards begin where series I left off ... at card 406.
I believe they run until 812 (card #812 is a the NY Giants 3rd round
draft choice, and since, as Super Bowl Champions, they drafted last
...)
There is no large gap this year, as there was last year (for the final
update set). I have little doubt there will be a final update set,
but it will likely start it's numbering with #813.
There are 7 "special cards" in this series:
o ProSet Mini Gazette II (I was in series I)
o Otto Graham
o Paul Brown
o Jim Thorpe
o Santa Claus
o Ottis Anderson Super Bowl XXV MVP card (the first 24 MVP's were
in last year's set, so this card can either be considered part
of this year's set, or last year's, depending on your point of
view).
o HHH MetroDome (site of Super Bowl XXVI, and I'm sure Super
Card Show III).
I have an extra Otto Graham and Santa Claus, and I'm still looking
for two Russell Maryland inserts from series I (#694). I'm willing
to trade them one-for-one if anyone has RM insert cards ...

"NFL ProSet La tarjeta oficial de la NFL"
Are they in Becketts or anything? Is there a checklist anywhere?

| My dealer here has more boxes in stock now. I found more Chargers.
They're listed in team order so the Chargers go from 208 - 217 or close
to that. Anyone else getting any of these? I saw them in SCD last
week.
The cost per box here is $17.95.

| Has anyone ever seen the 1991 Pro Set Football Final Update cards?
(the final 38 cards in the set). One dealer I spoke with told me that
these cards were only available through a send-away offer, I'm not
sure what he meant by that.
Anyway, I'd like to get my hands on a set, but I have not seen them
in any of the shops around here (upper mass, lower NH).
