| | I've never bought these sets, but Star puts out numerous sets of these
with titles like "Gold"(1500 sets), "Silver" (2000 sets), "Platinum"
(1000 sets). I've seen ads for Ewing, Chambers, Barkley, Thomas etc.
etc. They also do the same thing for baseball players. The sets aren't
cheap either 25-40$ in some cases. Probably good if you collect those
    players.

| | I picked up a set at my local dealer for $13.95, it's a 11 card
    D. Robinson set. I've notice an ad in Tuff Stuff for a set of
    D. Robinson from Star but, it's only 9 cards and the price was
a bit more expensive. I'll verify the price tonight.
It's a nice set tells you everything about the player.

I went to a small show this weekend and bought a STAR baseball set of
Rickey Henderson . The guy told me of the STAR basketball sets as well.
He showed me a Ewing Promo along with a letter briefly stating that there
are 3 different sets (Gold,Silver and "?") each having a limited quantity
between 1500 and 2500 . I questioned the quantites thinking there was a
zero or two missing, but he assured me that they were accurate . The
letter also said that there were going to be total of 20 sets, with 2
sets becoming available every other week . Sounds strange, but the
letter looked authentic and adressed to the that dealer, not a Xerox
copy . His price was $19 per individual set or $14 per set if you
    ordered all 20 sets . There's 11 cards per set . I haven't seen any
other info on them . My brother-in-law bought the Robinson set from a
cardshop in Boston for $20 .

| | It looks like all of the Star basketball sets are just about out.
Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they do a Bulls (or Lakers)
    Champions set.

Most of the 11 card sets are of players. There are 3 David Robinson
sets; 2 Derrick Coleman sets, a Dee Brown set, a Tim Hardaway set,
etc. I think there are about 20 sets in all. There are also four
team sets, Pistons, Jazz, Clippers and Bulls. I'm sure the Bulls
set will be hot. I cannot figure why they would pick the Clippers
to make a set of; and I wonder why they didn't do the whole league?

I believe that all of these sets are distributed in 8000-10000
quanities. I've seen the various sets priced anywhere from 9$ (Pistons,
Stockton, Thomas, etc) to 35$ (Robinson I, Bulls).

I wonder if Beckets will ever list these cards.

I'm also a little puzzled as to why there is no Micheal Jordan set?
Maybe that's still to come as well...

As noted in an earlier reply, STAR also has more limited edition
(gold, platinum. nova, etc) versions of most of the player sets that
are a lot more expensive to get a hold of. (out of my price range
    anyway).
