Picked up two boxes yesterday, $25ea...
Found two Michael Jordan Cards (one in each), it looks like there's
one Jordan card in every other box. The dealer where I purchased these
two boxes open a case and found 10 cards, he selling them for $8ea.
The 3-D Holograms aren't to well distributed.. In 72 packs I found 8
different, 4 in each box... So anyone wanting to trade these 3-D
holograms with me, just send me mail.
I was lucky enough to find all the Nolan Ryan cards to complete one
10 card set, and only 4 to complete another.. 8^)
I'm left with a 129 card wantlist, not bad distribution when you think
about it, 1080 cards (72 packs), 700 card set, 81.6%
Well, anyone wanting to trade, send me mail.. We can trade wantlist.

Rumor:
U.D. had some problems early in their packing process. Seems the
colation was bad (too many jordan and ryan hero cards]. This came
from some one who says he got 5 jordan in a box shipped in jan.
This might have some merit, my box had 3 and I am 3 cards short
of 5 sets of ryans, all from one box. I tend to think this could
have happened because the box i opened yesterday had only 5 ryans
hero cards total.
p.s. I did get 1 jordan in the second box

RE. -1
Your right John, the distribution was excellent.. 97% I only need 3
cards to complete my set. I'll be putting together a second set soon.
I think I'll have most of the cards for the second set too. I picked
up my box for 35$.
Also, I found two SP2 cards of Henderson/Ryan in the box. Along with
some pretty good cards from the low numbers (Thomas,Erickson,Griffey).
The Aaron subset was as easy to put together as the Ryan subset in
the low number boxes. In my low number box I almost completed two
sets of the Ryan hero cards. The Aaron Subset I still need 5 cards
to complete one set and 8 to complete the second.. I only found 8
cards in my box.

| I'm really pissed off,I just bought 5 packs of the Upperdeck Jumbo
pack that have the "Silver Slugger" card in each pack. The price for
these cards are marked at $1.98 but the going price on the outside
(if you can find them) is anywhere from $3.50 to $5.00 per pack.
Out of the 5 packs that I opened (Very Carefuly) only 2 packs were
good, and the other 3 packs should of been thrown in a barrell at
the factory where they were (produced) made.On all the cards there
is a line that is in the same location on every card,it looks like
some sort of a rubber wheel or something that was holding the cards
down or something. Also the corners are damaged, and 2 cards were stepped
on and put back inside the pack. What I need from someone is an
address where I can send them, and show them (Upperdeck) what kind
of garbage got through their Q.C. Department.
Thanks

I copied this address from some place, I don't remember

where it says Yorba Linda, it should read Yerba Linda, which means
Pretty grass in Spanish.

Thanks for the confirmation on Yorba Linda. I could have
bet you (I'm not a betting person, normally) some money that it
should be Yerba Linda. Everything else in the address is in
Spanish, and it can be translated, for example:
Via del Rio means River Way
Yerba Linda would mean Pretty Grass,
but there is no translation for Yorba, that is why it makes sense to me
the original intention was to name it Yerba Linda, and somehow, during
this process, it was mis-spelled, and it stayed that way. Anyhow,
even if it was true, this is all water over the bridge, and it
won't make any difference what I think it should be.

John,
You might not want to send the ud card. From what I understand,
if you write to them they will send you an auto. card of some kind,
Even if you don't send along a card to sign. If you do send a card
you probably won't get the same one back.
I got the above from some kids at spring trng. this yr.
In fact Dunston wouldn't sign a thing for the general public, but
when I asked " what was he doing in the office ( it looked like
he was signing stuff) " ,I was told he was signing "rifleman" cards
for mail requests. I guess they all do that, Well you'll find out
soon enough, maybe you should ask for Ryno's too.

Well, The Saint is too modest to admit it (he is a Saint after
all), but he recently found one of these autographed cards himself.
He opened a high-number 1990(??) "wax" pack, and inside was card
#0401 ...
The really amazing thing is that I had these packs in my possession
for John for a couple of weeks before he picked them up. I know,
I know, what's so amazing about that.
Most of you know I hate UD, and if they'd stayed away from FB and BK,
I still wouldn't have bought any. But I looked at the "Find The
Reggie" logo, and I was bitten by the bug. I kept telling John;
"I know there's a Reggie in there. I know it, I just know it!".
John told me to go ahead an open 'em if I was that sure, and if
it was we could sell it and split the money. But my conscience
kept me from opening those packs.
Wasn't I disappointed when John opened the packs last night at my
apartment. And of course, he thinks I'm psychic, but I'm just
plain sick over this. To think I could've opened the packs ...
Congratulations John!
Now, where do I get some of those packs ...

The 1st hi series will drop in value because they will have to print

It's true...Upper Deck is going to come out with a "Final Update/Traded
set" for the '91 set (#801-900). I saw it advertised in a "Previews"
magazine and should be available around December. I have no idea what
the price is going to be, but guess around $20-$30(conservatively).
I'm going to wait until I see them at a card show, 'cuz I've seen some
pretty low prices for stuff I want. Example: Upper Deck '91 Silver
Slugger Set for $30...UD'91 set (1-800) for $38.50 and more....
If anyone is interested, the "Previews" magazine is a pre-order
catalog/magazine with merchandise for sale three months, THREE,
in advance. The "Sports Previews" magazine is dedicated to all sports
merchandise, while the "Previews" magazine is a cross-merchandise
magazine of comics,SF,fantasy,sports and books.
I get mine at my comic specialty store and can plan in advance what I
want to buy. Unless it's noted otherwise, I can be assured of recieving
my order as soon as the product becomes available...

The Beckett BB w/ Frank Thomas on the cover, Oct?, has a price list
for the Silver Slugger set. The Canseco, Benito Santiago go for
about $5, while the Lance Parrish and Ellis Burks cards are around
$2-3. The complete set of 18 cards I've seen at shops are priced at
$50-60 because of the distribution of the Jumbo packs (where the Silver
Slugger cards were/are in) was poor. I bought a set at a card show
for $25 which were priced to sell (some scratches, but then again, I'm
keeping them, not selling), so keep looking, they're out there.
The suggested retail price printed on the foil packs is $1.98, but as
with any scarce item, the price increases. In this case the Jumbo
packs were going for $5/pack. At $5/pack, I thought "What the heck..
I'll wait for someone to sell the set. It's cheaper that way"

Do you think U.D. will continue this set in the future? I do. The Reggie
heros have become very much in demand simply because collectors would
now like to have the complete set of heros from '90 on. The silver
slugger sets will probably follow that same trend. Also these $5/pack
prices seem to be driving the set up. I would buy them at $25 or $30
because next year they will be $50 and $60. Of course I Trade for 90%
of what I pick up at shows.

What does this intro card have on it..? All the ads I've seen
in trade rags have been for the 10 card ryan set and the 9 card
aaron set. I can't figure out how they can print an intro card
for aaron.. I thought the intro card was for the entire heroe's
set for that year.

This is just F.Y.I.
In this weeks Baseball Card News they list the 1991 UD Final
Edition at $50 - $35/set...
What does this mean? When we go to the show this weekend, should
we all buy a couple extra? If the next Beckett's come out and the
price is up there, where going to shoot ourselves...

It means someone in the proof-reading department is an idjit. Or
someone in the data gathering department is an idjit. Or it means
we're all idjits.
They were out there last weekend for $12-13/set, and NOT NOT NOT
NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT selling.
I will not be surprised, nor will I let it anger me when it happens,
to see someone using this price guide to hype up the price of their
sets.
Wait! I've got it! QVC/HSC is going to be offering them soon, and
they needed some "factual" material to base their outrageous price
on. That's the ticket!

| I got H4 earlier in the year. It had all three of the guys on the
card, I think they were Killerbrew (sp), Jenkins, and Perry?.. I
unloaded it for $18. I didn't think they were rare because a friend
also got one in a box. I have not seen them around in the shops
lately.
