    What's this I hear about *another* error in the Saddam Husein World
    Domination Set?

    Apparently, some of Saddam's top generals doctored up his beret when
    he wasn't wearing it. From what I hear they sewed an obscenity in
    Arabic on the top of it. Apparently they copied it from the Fleer
    Billy Ripken error card. The corrected version has a black square
    over the offending word. Oh yeah, the generals were shot.

    Also they're coming out with a special Saddam subset titled "I'd
    walk a mile for a Camel" - it consists of 6 cards depicting "special"
    camels in Sadam's life.

    I've got most of the set now - still missing "Chemical Warfare Fun"
    and "Darn, we almost had an A-bomb".

164.5Limited Edition CardsEBBV03::MONDALTOWed Aug 15 1990 07:0011
    How much are they a pack? I heard that they were going for

    550 Rials (foreign currency) per pack,and there is also a

    limited edition of the Kohmeni Card in his 21 Kt. Gold casket.

    You may even get lucky and get the card showing him kissing

    the SHA in his early days before EXILE.

    I just got off the phone with some guy at PACE, and they
    expect to have there shipment in at anytime. What he said
    was that the truck comes down Rt. 3, so we should all get
    together and follow the truck to *all* of it's stops.

    Maybe if we're lucky the driver will sell us the cases and
    save us some gas money.

    I like the special insert cards called "Cartel Powerhouses". My
    favorite one in this subset is Saddam Insane (oops Huessein) tossing a
    hand held missle at King Fahd.

164.12You Guys have some great Ideas!!AKOV13::GASPARONIMon Aug 20 1990 10:3013
    You guys have a great idea here, and you should all be cashing in on
    it. What a great set for the times. Every gas station would sell
    them, or give'em away with a 8 gal. tank up of gasoline. We should
    start our own card production company. M. Kelly could do the cutting,
    and the rest of you guys could do the art work, and planning, etc. You
    all have a great idea, a real collectors item. There has to be a way
    to get into this business, with some minimal capital costs. Anyone
    have any idea how sophisticated this printing equipment has to be??
    We probably won't have to pay any royalities to these chums since we
    are almost at war with them. And if we do start fighting these sand
    fleas, we can put together some action cards, sort of like series I and
    II, and so on. We can get the pics from CNN or one of the net works.
    What do you say, what to start a little Cartel of our own here??

    In line with this trend toward violence in collectibles, Topps is
    coming out with a second series of New Kids on the Block called New
    Kids Knock Your Block Off. I saw a sample of card #5 with Donnie W.
    sticking his fingers in the eye of that poor Harvard student. Stay
    tuned.

    Has anyone seen these cards yet? I'd like to get a set, if any of you
    quasi/dealers have or will have them.

    As an aside, THE NATIONAL had a full page editorial on this. It was too
    long for me to type in, but basicly it slammed Topps pretty hard. Said
    it was in poor taste, bad example, etc.

    I'm not going to get on a soapbox and argue one way or another on this,
    but I would like a set.

164.34Saw them at a show yesterdayFRAGLE::GUTIERREZMon Feb 18 1991 14:3410

    	I saw them at a card show yesterday. Typical TOPPS look, not colorful
	at all in the front, with the regular brown backs. Not attractive
    	at all, but I still would like to get a set. One of the dealers
        had a set on display in the plastic pages. People were looking
    	for the set, but he kept saying that he was sold out. Wait a little
    	and they will be everywhere, you can bet TOPPS is going to make sure
        there are plenty of them for everyone who wants them.

164.37One more reason ...FRAGLE::GUTIERREZWed Feb 20 1991 09:0615
	Ref.: 164.35

		One more reason why card companies should change their
	policy and sell to the public in general. If the dealers don't
	want to carry a particular product, that's their business, but
	why should the public in general suffer and pay higher prices
	just because the dealers create an artificial market by refusing
	to carry the cards. If the public wants these cards give it to
	them, why should we be held hostage to the dealer's whims.

		If you don't think they are in good taste, don't buy
	them, but don't deny others the opportunity of buying them,
	or force the price up just because you choose not to carry them
	on your place of business.

    RE; .36? (John)

    Yes, Topps sent thousands of specially embossed sets to the troops in
    January. A Topps spokesman said the sets "included vintage old-time
    cards of monetary value." He said that because of this donation, they
    feel that they have done thier fair share, and "feel good about it."

    Pacific put out a set of 110 cards. They will put all other cards to
    shame. These are real glossy and the pictures are far better than any
    other that I have seen.
    Bought a box of waxpack and made three sets from that one box.

164.45And you thought it would never happen ...FRAGLE::GUTIERREZMon May 20 1991 14:579
	Putting all the jokes aside, and for all of those who may not be
	aware of it, Saddam Hussein has his picture on the Pro Set
	Desert Storm set, and on the latest Topps Desert Storm
	Series 3 (The Homecoming), and since this is the first time
	this has been done, they are truly Saddam Hussein rookie cards.

	I don't think there will ever be any demand for them, but you
	can always use them for target practice.
