| As far as I know the Lineup program is for IBM PC and compatibles
only.

| Here are some biased differences between Lineup and Card/fax as
furnished by the makers of Lineup:
Lineup has all the players names, Card/fax has all the common cards
(about 2/3) listed as "Common Player".
Lineup has several data elements such as Rookie etc. that Card/fax
does not.
Card/fax has an entry for what you paid for the card that Lineup
currently does not.
Card/fax is slower and the data bases take up much more disk space.
Lineup can generate over a hundred different types of reports, card/fax
only five.
Additional years are available in 5 year increments for $5 each
for Lineup, and monthly updates for all the years you have purchased
for $5 or $20 for year long subscription.
My comments:
Neither program has the teams listed in the data base. Lineup has
all the major vendors including Upper Deck. Not all the special
"limited edition" sets are included. Maybe we should input that
data into a note (when someone has time to type in the smaller sets
and extract it to an ASCII file that can be imported back into the
program as a custom data base).
DEFINITELY WORTH $35!

| I am looking for a card data base for my 520 ST does anyone know
of any I tried the atari note but got no responses..

| I didn't see any activity in this note for awhile, and was wondering if
anyone has any current info/comparisons/observations on IBM PC software
currently out.
How about it? Any recommendations?

Just last week I was poking around in Winnah::, and I came across
a baseball card database. So I copied it over and unzipped it. It
worked and looked pretty good. Every VGA I think. Anyway, I started
looking a little further and find that it hadn't been updated with
the new 1992 card sets yet. It went back only to 1980 (I think) and
had all the different companys available. The only problem was you
(or someone) had to keep updating the database with the cards every
year, or atleast this program was excepting an input file, you could
create your own. I just spent the last 15 minutes tracking through
Winnah:: again, but couldn't find it. If I came across it again I'll
post it.

| In Baseball Cards magazine they have an addvertisement for Lineup
software and The Card Collector software. After reading these adds
several times and checking in local stores for other offerings,I
decided
to(oops) go with The Card Collector. I have had it now for a few weeks
and I love it. It is a menu driven design which makes it easy to use,so
says the add,and I find that to be true.It also says it was designed by
collectors for collectors. This appears to be true too because it lets
you customize it in many ways if you would like to.
The software will run on any IBM,Tandy,or compatible computer,with 640K
RAM ,DOS 2.0 or greater,a hard drive with 2.8Mb free. It comes with
both 3.5 and 5.25 disks as load medium. The basic package is baseball
card data(including prices)for 1948-1992,Bowman,Donruss,Fleer,Leaf,
O-Pee-Chee,Score,Topps(w/Stadium Club)and Upper Deck.
The prices follow Becketts magazine closely,although I,m not sure where
they get there prices from.
Monthly updates can be purchased for six dollars.
The add list the package price at $49.95,but I picked it up at
Electronics Boutique for $36.99.
Other price/databases are available as follows:
Football(1948-1992)
Hockey (1951-1992)
Basketball(1957-1992)
$19.95 for each database or $49.95 for all three.
With the base package you can manually type in these databases if you
so desire by using the menus to create the set name. For instance there
was no Topps Gold set so I started one consisting of the cards I owned.

| Anybody that needs or wants info on the Lineup software I have been
using it for 1 1/2 years. I like it, but never tried the other major
database sold in the card mags.
