65.0. "Tickets & Stubs" by MAMIE::DDODA (NIO, 5/19) Tue May 09 1989 15:38

In 1983, I had the honor of going to Carl Yastremski's last game.
I scalped the tickets out front for original cost, but I had to
buy all 3 leaving me with 1 unused complete ticket to Yaz's last
game.

Is this worth anything?

Is there a market for tickets or stubs?

I was there also, and recently found my two ticket stubs. Don't
know what they, or a complete ticket, are worth, though? Was that
also Wade Boggs first game? It was Oct 1, 1983.

Boggs came up from Pawtuckett in 82, played 104 games that year
and got his 1st major league hit on April 26, 82. He was close
to a seasoned veteran by October of 83.

-How about a ticket stub from the game Yaz got his 3,000th
hit? It has a little picture of Yaz on it. Another one
I'm trying to get from a friend who was there is a stub
from Clemens' 20K game. Any value besides nostagia? Pat.

I've saved most of my ticket stubbs from all the games I've been
to. I have them from Yankee games back in '68, old Met Stadium
in the '70's, the All-Star game in '85, Playoff and WS games of
'87 and more. From last year's baseball trip I have tickets from
nine different ballparks. Someday they'll be worth something.

Occasionally at card shows, dealers will have unused tickets to
memorable games for sale at pricey prices. As far as I know, ticket
stubs have value only to the stubbee. But, if you have a stub to a
memorable/historic game, I'll bet you can get a dealer to buy it from
you so they can resell it. Go to a card show and ask all the dealers.
I'm willing to bet somebody would buy it. I sold some early and
mid-70s all-star ballots for a few bucks to a dealer after being turned
down by most of the other dealers. Go to some card shows and find out.

65.7how is this for a famous Red Sox game?19988::EVANSFri Dec 01 1989 12:539
I have stubs to the seventh game of the '46 Series where Pesky hesitated
throwing the ball home and Enos Slaughter made his famous "dash to home". Enos
Slaughter has autographed one of the stubs. Some dealers think these stubs
are worth $100-150 each. If anyone has an idea how I might get a copy of the
photo of Slaughter sliding into home on that play, I would dearly love to hear
from you.

I called the HOF. They have the photograph among the 150,000 other photos in
their collection. They will send me a 8x10 copy and bill me $17.50. The price
seemed a little high, but then this is for a bit of family history. Thanks for
the pointer to the HOF.

Could you post whom exactly to call (Dept. & phone #) at the HOF?
There are a few photos I'd be interested in, and it would be nice
to know how to do it. I didn't realize that they'd copy photographs
to interested parties. Do you know what "kind" of copy? Is it a
photocopy, or do they have the negatives and run off a fresh copy
of the picture? How's the quality? $17.50 is a very reasonable price
    for an 8"x10" glossy.

    Information will be very appriciated!!

I sent away for a transcript for a Hall of fame induction speech last
year. It cost me $2.00 including the handling and postage. They sent
it to me before they billed me, which I thought was nice. If he
doesn't post the address, I will...

I called information at 607-555-1212 and asked for the Baseball Hall of Fame in
Cooperstown and they gave me the number which I didn't save. I told the
receptionist at the HOF that I was interested in getting a photo of an historic
play and she forwarded me to the department that handled this. The $17+ charge
will be invoiced to me when they send the photo. I don't know what I will be
getting for my money.

Let us know about the quality of the photo. I for one would be very
    interested.

    Thanks,

I ordered my photo from the HOF early last week. I got the photo on Saturday -
that's about a 5-6 day turnaround time. The photo was 8x10, black and white,
very clear and slightly cropped on the sides. On the back were some hand
written notes that identified the photo (Enos Slaughter '46 Series) and the
source (AP). The back also had a stamp regarding copyright limitations. The
photo came in a cardboard mailer with an invoice ($17.50 for the photo plus
$1.05 for postage) and a nicely typed letter from the photo department of the
HOF. Overall, I am very pleased. The photo is different from what I expected
in that I have only ever seen a wide angle shot and I received a closeup of
Slaughter sliding with the umpire signalling him safe. I would recommend that
if anyone orders a photo from these people that you be very specific about
what you want since they do seem to have an enormous number of photos.
