61.0. "Kellogg's 3-D's" by SKETCH::MACFARLANE () Fri Jan 27 1989 11:33

    In this month's BC Price Guide, prices are given for Kellogg's
    3-D cards. I noticed they said that the cards were susceptible
    to cracking if not handled and stored properly. What is the
    best way to store these things? Most of the ones I own have
    this distinct curl to them and I'm afraid that if I put them
    in something to flatten them out, it will cause them to crack
    even more than some of them are. I ordered a full set of
    1974's and at least 1/4 of them came cracked. I would like to
    at least preserve the ones that are still nr-mt shape.
    Any ideas?

    -Does this mean that nobody has any 3-d's out there or is
    it that nobody cares or that nobody knows??????? Pat.

    I care, but I don't have any and I didn't know of them until your
    note.

    I have some. None of mine are cracked, but they bend in the middle,
    as if they had a rubber band around them. Not sure what to tell
    you, I'm just going through them now...

    So what are these 3-D cards selling for these days anyway?

61.6Keep the Kellogg cards out of the sun!AKOV12::GASPARONIMon Feb 05 1990 13:0010
    I've seen the Kellogg Cards curl and crack, if not keep in something
    flat to begin with. Also, extreme heat curls them up, my experience is
    to keep all your cards in a dry, constant temperature controlled
    atmosphere. I think thats the next money maker, providing colletors
    with large atmospheric controlled cases, so cards won't mildew, crack,
    fade out, all those bad things that happen to cards when they are put
    in the wrong places. I think these Kellogg cards are very unique, and
    have a nice look to them, almost like the twilight zone look.

    I agree Rick, the 3-D's are really nice looking cards. I wish
    I had more of them. They would look great in plastic sheets
    if you could ever find any the right size and weren't worried
    about them cracking. I just wonder if flattening them out in
    a binder would hurt them after they've been in their semi-curled
    state for so long. Besides the baseball 3D's, I also have an
    early 70's John Brodie poised for a pass.

    I just think it's funny that there really isn't more interest
    in these things.
