43.0. "Hockey Cards" by TOLKIN::LOCKE () Thu May 26 1988 11:34

I've noticed people in this file looking for Hockey cards usually
with no reply. There is a little antique store at the junctions
of rte 12 and 110 in West Boyleston that has a couple of hundred.
They are not new and some are in very good condition, still in
plastic holders. To give an example of the age of some I saw a
Mahovilich (SP) and some Colorado Scouts (?). The only problem is
they want a dollar a card regardless of who what when where it is.

Chuck

PS: There are no Bobby Orr's, I looked.

I forgot to mention they have 85 and 86 BB cards. The deal is the
same as the Hockey cards (buck a piece) They appear to be mostly
commons though.

Sorry, Chuck - Network Partner Lost.

I was just saying that the franchise you alluded to started out
as the KC Scouts, became the Colorado Rockies and finally settled
in NJ as the Devils.

At $1 per hockey card I can't see how this guy stays in business.

Believe me it's not the cards that he does his business on. He
sells antiquies and just happens to have some cards he picked up
somewhere. I put this note in here just in case someone needed a
card or two to fill out a set. If that's all I needed I'd probably
pay the buck so I could have a complete set.

for those looking, search the trade magazines - there are lots
of adds for full sets. If single cards are desired write or
call those advertising. The cards are out there, and available
at inexpensive prices - they're just not advertised that much
due to lesser demand.

Hi Chuck, Hope your still into this notesfile...

What about Bobby Orr cards? I have several (from several different
years). What are they worth? Also have Stanfield, Bucyk, McKenzie,
Hodge, Esposito, etc etc etc Many have been autographed.

I am a *BIG* hockey fan of those years!

Anybody want to tell me what they may be worth?

While at the Westford show I stopped and talked to a dealer
who had quite a few hockey cards. His cards ran from 3.00 to
10.00 dollars including his Orr's.

I have a set of Topps 73/74 hockey cards that I'd like to sell.
There are some missing from the set (about 20). Most of the cards
are in mint condition.

Looks like the photographer that takes pictures for Topps hockey
cards lives in Boston. Many of the photos were taken at Boston Garden.
Many people in the background are clearly visible. I haven't been
to any hockey games at the Garden, but if I had I'd check out this
years cards. Maybe you or somebody you know is on a card ? Does
anybody know if they ALWAYS take alot of photos is Boston, or is
it just this year ? Just wondering ...

43.19Gretzky rookie?REFINE::ASHEDon't cheeze me off, man...Wed Oct 31 1990 12:2812
Got the latest Beckett's hockey magazine last night and my roommate
was looking at the list of 117 Pro Set errors... He then started
leafing back through the lists, and couldn't believe the Gretzky
prices. He then saw the rookie listing and said "You're kidding,
I've got this one...". Ten minutes later, he came up from the
basement with it. Not mint, but probably ex-nr mt.

What would be the best way of getting the best price for it, if
he was interested in selling it? Somehow I can't talk him into
giving it to me for 90% off....

You might consider a bid board auction through a local shop. Guy I know
locally takes 20% off the top, but hot stuff sometimes goes for over
the book price. Or you could just set a fair price for it and offer it
here in the conference (but don't tell anyone it was stored in the
basement).

I didn't say mint... He's still not sure if he wants to part with it.
Looked in good shape to me though.... I'll say it's in his room, it's
a finished basement.

43.241990 Program Triple O.T.CGVAX2::MCKENNAWed Apr 17 1991 12:395
I didn't find anything in the file regarding old programs, but I have a
program and ticket stub from Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals in 1990.
Boston vs. Edmonton won by Edmonton in the 3rd overtime period. This is
the longest Finals game on record. How much is the program and ticket
stub worth?
