This appeared in last week's Boston Globe (Ask the Globe section): Question: Is there any one who deals in Boxing Memorabilia? Here is the answer for anyone who is interested: Dennis Brearley maintains a collection of boxing memorabilia beneath the north canopy of Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace. If you would like to learn more before making the trip to the Hub, call him at (617) 523-0270 or 944-7580. Hall's nostalgia, which deals mainly in baseball memorabilia, occaisionally has some boxing material. The shop is at 21 Mystic St. in Arlington. There are also boxing pictures in collections in the Print Department of the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. Another possibility is the Library at the Globe. Prints of some of the boxing photos that have appeared in the paper are available for a fee, but you must know the date and page on which the photo appeared. Writ to: Library, The Boston Globe, Boston, MA 02107 for complete details.

Thanks Tim ... that was interesting. Too bad there wasn't a name and address accompaning the question. I collect boxing cards from the 40's and 50's era. My knowledge of boxing cards far exceeds that of my knowledge of baseball cards. I currently subscribe to two newsletters for boxing memorabilia collectors, and I know many, many collectors who actively buy/sell memorabilia. Also, I am currently preparing to sell two complete boxing card sets from the 1950's. Believe it or not, there are alot of boxing memorabilia collectors out there. Tony | |||||
