983.0. "SMT Compatibility questions" by ADOV01::MANUEL (Over the Horizon....) Wed May 14 1997 03:04

I observe from Note 452 that the G/S supports SMT V7.3, however as also
noted the only SPD on the webIR that refers to the G/S software is V1.0
dated June 1993 which indicated only V7.2 conformance.

Is the SPD ever going to be updated or is there some other official
document which indicates the relevant conformance details.

Is V7.3 full backward compatible with V7.2 and can both versions
    inter-work with each other?.

Are there any likely problems intermixing these two versions as my
customer has some VME FDDI modules which only conform to V7.2 spec and
he wishes to connect these to the G/S. Does the use of a mix of V7.3
and V7.2 prevent any V7.3 features from working?.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    See note 239.1 (keyword SPD)

See the FDDI notes conference, note 1596.1 where Bill Cronin says the
    technical content is identical.
