970.0. "Q's & remarks to AGL2+ V3.10..." by ZUR01::FIERZ () Thu Apr 17 1997 07:50

I have 3 questions/remarks about AGL-2+ cards for GIGAswitch/FDDI:

- The AGL-2+ card identifies itself as FW Rev 0.31 even though it has been up-
  graded to 3.10
- The Port LEDs don't change the color in MCM
- The physical LEDs on the Module don't represent the line state as required

1) In the OBM mode if you do a "show slot configuration" you get:
	Slot	CardTyp	State		HW	FW
	12	AGL-2+	Powered Up	B	0.31	initialized

  MultiChassisManager (MCM) V6.0A shows the same info in the "System Summary"
  window as above.

2) MultiChassisManager V6.0A shows all the LEDS (Port, Phy, Brocken) in pink
  exept the Module status LED witch is correctly green eventhough a connection
  is estabished and the physical LEDs on the module report the status correctly

3) The physical LEDs on the modPHY card are not very usefull: the PHY LED is lit
  whenever the port is up even without a connection to a SDH or SONET node.

Are the any plans to correct the mentioned problems or any workarounds
available ?

I would appeciate any answer to this

970.1AGL2 and AGL2+ require 2 Jumpers to write flashNPSS::RLEBLANCThu Apr 17 1997 09:5413

      Sounds like to me you are missing two required jumpers.

      There are two jumpers which need to be installed before a write
      to the AGL2 Flash can occur. They are stake pins located near the
      socketed flash parts E85,E86 and E129,E87. When the card is
      removed from the switch and the front handle is in your left
      hand with all the components facing you. These flash parts
      will be in the Upper right of the card.

     As for MCM, you need AGL2+ to be running V3.10 and the LEDs should be
     reporting much better.
