Hi, I'm just installing 4 GIGAswitch's/FDDI. Each equipped with 4 FGL-4 and 2 FGL-2. We are using FW Rev 3.1 on all modules except the clock wich is 3.0. If I want to examine the Linecard DVT it take minutes to get the DVT prompt or even the connection gets a timeout. If get a prompt from the line linecard the output is very slow e.g. 1 or 2 charactes per second. If I power of one of the FGL-4 (makes no diffrenet which one) the DVT works normal. So it looks to me that if all six FGL-4 are up, we have problem with the DVT, if we have less then six FGL-4 up we have no problem. For the customer environment this means that in case of problem we have nearly no chance to examnine the DVT. This problem is reproduceable on all four switches. Regards Juergen

Yes - this is known, although undesireable behaviour. The DVT monitor was not intended as a tool for field or customer personnel, and there are some problems associated with using it as such. It is a known deficiency that the DVT monitor on FGL-4s loads very slowly or not at all in certain configurations. There are several improvements which are either in discussion or in the development stage. Of most value to field personnel is the proposed addition of error logs to the GIGAswitch/FDDI system MIB (SNMP). MDL |
