Hi, My customer has 2 gigaswitch and having problem with the IPX. When client B is attached to gigaswitch B, it's unable to attach to the server. TCPIP works fine and able to ping the server. Client A has no problem and able to attach the server. Can some tell me what could be the problem? Gigaswitch firmware revision is as 2.2. Hi, We hv upgraded the firmware to 3.1 but doesn't solve the problem. On further investigation, we found out that the customer is having a WINNT server running NWLINK IPX/SPX compatible and as well as the win95 client. Is there a difference between the Novell IPX and WINNT IPX? On the 900EF, will it help if I enable the IPX switching? thks. Ong | |||||

...this is the GIGAswitch notes conference - mostly you'll find people here to discuss GIGAswitch problems. I suspect that not too many people here are that familiar with IPX problems or 900EF configurations... You really ought to escalate this through proper channels. I don't see any particular reason to suspect the GIGAswitch/FDDI system of misbehaviour in your configuration. The more likely suspects are IPX misconfigurations and/or 900EF misconfigurations, both of which I am sadly ignorant. You can fairly easily confirm or eliminate the GIGAswitch/FDDI system of complicity, by temporarily eliminating the GIGAswitch/FDDI systems and just connecting the Novell devices up in a FDDI ring.
