935.0. "1 scp how many das/sas connections?" by MSBCS::HURLEY () Wed Feb 19 1997 09:40

I poked around for the answer but could not find it.

What is the max port for a gig with 1 scp in it?

I've read with 2 scp modules in the switch for redundancy I can have a
max of 32 sas, 20 das or 24 sas and 8 das. Is this info still
    correct?

The GIGAswitch/FDDI system has 14 slots, broken down as follows:

    slots 1-4 two port slots
    slots 5-6 four port slots
slot 7 unavailable - CLK module
slot 8 unavailable - CBS module
    slots 9-12 four port slots
    slots 13-14 two port slots

...so, there are six two port slots and six four port slots.

One of those slots must be occupied by an SCP - usually a two port
    slot. Thus:

    (6-1)*2 + 6*4 = 34 physical bridge ports available

This is the maximum number of SAS ports available.

The maximum number of DAS ports is obtained by putting all FGL-2s
in all the available (eleven) slots:

    (12-1)*2 = 22 DAS ports available.

You may care to consult the "Logic Modules" section of the
GIGAswitch/FDDI System Manager's Guide for additional information.
