Coming close to christmas, I have to do some marketing research on what is 
good value for money for Nintendo games. It is for my 5-year old son (I am only
watching:):)  ). So far, we very much enjoyed the super mario serie (I,II,III).
However, we were also disaapointed about some others that we rented, like
Ninja Turtles, Dungeon and more of these 'fighting/karate' games. We enjoyed
mario a lot , becaused :

-It has a lot of variation (new worlds, characters)
-Doesn't become a routine after already 3 hours
-Is not toooo complicated (upto a certain level) for a 5 year old.
-excellent graphics and sound.

At about $100 a throw, I want to make sure to buy somthing similar for christmas.

So what would be YOUR top-5 game list at this very moment.

(Notice that a 5 year old cannot read yet, which makes all adventure type games
  not possible).

PS:We have the 'old' Nintendo (not the Super) 

    My top five games just now are.
    
          Blades of steel -  This my favorite.
          Super mario bros III. - Good platform game.
          Star wars -  This one is quite challenging.
          Double dragon II. - a good beat em up.
          T2 -  like the film so much went out a bought the game.

    This is a toughie. I'll list 5 games.
    
             Metroid - Will there ever be a sequel?
             Zelda   - The original.
             Dragon Warrior - The beginning of a great series.
             SMB     - Everyone's favorite.
             Final Fantasy - In my humble opinion.
