760.0. "Micro-Machines" by CSC32::M_FRAZIER (VMS is VMS, but Alpha isn't a VAX!) Fri Oct 02 1992 17:49

Anyone out there try Micro-Machines yet? I've rented this a few times
and am hooked (will probably buy it this weekend). For you RC Pro-Am
fans, this is your next game! This game also allows head to head
racing, but I haven't tried that yet.

The way Micro-Machines works is there are various different tracks
(which are located around the house). The race is done like RC Pro-Am
in that you view the cars from above. Each track has a different kind
of car (or boat or helicopter).

As I mentioned, the tracks are around the house (remember your driving
a little car thats smaller than a Hot-Wheel). The first track (for
qualifying) is in the bathtub. You race a boat around a track made
from soap bubbles. The next track is on the kitchen table, where
breakfast was just eaten, so you have to watch out for the syrup on the
track (the track is laid out by cheerios).

Favorite track so far is the pool table. You race what look like
formula 1 cars around a pool table, and even up on the edge of the
table (watch out for the holes though 8^).

    Happy Racing...
        Mike

    RE: .0

Yes,I agree with your entry. I think micro-machines is very similar to
RC Pro AM.The courses are very dificult at some times. The races are
very inten and the vehicles travel at very high speeds.

I did forget to mention in .0 that you get to choose who the other
drivers are. The different "kids" that you drive against have
different abilities (some are tough to impossible to beat). This
helps make the game more interesting when you get good at the
    early courses.

Also, just like yourself, after the computer oppenents lose 3 (or
    4) races, they are eliminated, and you have to choose someone to
    take their place.

    I give it 5 DECCIES!

            Great game!!!!

But I can't get past the Pool Table?

Do I need more practice or is there a technique?

    Thanks Chappy....
760.4Who are you racing against?CSC32::M_FRAZIERANNOUNCING: Amber Mykelle Frazier : 9-Nov-92Thu Nov 12 1992 17:3318
The pool table is definitely one of my favorite tracks. To win (or at
least get second to move on) just takes practice. Also, who you are
racing can make a difference. The best advice I can give is learn not
to run FLAT OUT (I've found that Micro-Machines takes a little more
finese to navigate the tracks than RC Pro-Am did). The Pool Table is a
lot like racing a real grand-prix, in that you have to take some of the
curves REAL SLOW. With timing, you should learn how to make the most
    of each curve.

Below is a semi-spooler that may help (more of a tip than a trick)

You might try using the reverse button when going into a tight
curve. You can keep you acceleration longer, and then time the reverse
for comming to a FAST slow-down for a turn. Takes practice, but in
certain cases, it really pays off.
