747.1 | awaiting Return of the Jedi!!! | UNYEM::SAPPB | happy happy joy joy | Wed May 13 1992 09:37 | 22 |
| I rented this over the weekend for one night. It's alot like the STAR
WARS game, the only difference being you only control one player (Luke)
while in the original you can control/switch players and a few others
to turn to for advice.
The game sticks close to same theme and flow of the movie. The first
stage has you on a tauntaun exploring ice caverns and destroying imperial
droids. The second has has you fighting Imperial walkers. Next you go
into the rebel base and fight troopers. From there you go to Degobah to
find Yoda and then go thru Jedi training. The next couple of stages
involve cloud city and it concludes with a fight against Darth Vader.
The player control, graphics and sound are pretty good. Along with
Luke's laser and Light sabre, he has 8 or 10 enhanced abilities which
he picks up during the course of the game (jump higher, levitate,
deflect bullets, ect.) If you liked the STAR WARS, you'll surely like
this follow up.
I had no trouble getting to stage 3 after a couple hours of play,

Hi,
I just rented it at blockbuster video in manchester NH. The game
seems to be very good but I have been unable to get past the first
screen. The levels are
1) battle the snow monsters in the ice caves of Hoth and find the
light sabre.
2) battle the AT-AT walkers on the surface in a speeder (looks good
i just wish i could get there.)
3) travel to yoda's planet and learn the ways of the jedi
4) travel to the cloud city and battle the cloud cars with a X-wing
fight all the storm troopers/defeat the bounty hunters and defeat
vadar in the last battle.
After renting it for a few night's i think thats its worth the money
to buy it.

| re. -1
To get thru the first level, first you kill the big snow monster by
slashing him with your light sabre while your back is to the wall.
After defeating him, leave the ice cave (directly from that room) to go
to the surface. From there you go a little ways until you have to
re-enter the caves which look similar to previous caves but are not.
You then confront another big snow monster and then the large imperial
probe. This can be beaten by slashing it WHILE jumping its missles.
The only hint you need on stage 2 is that it is easier to disable
AT-AT's on the ground rather than from the snow speeder once you've run
out of cables.
hope this helps,
Bill

Thanks for the help, I got through the first stage last night
and found a couple of tricks which I will mention later in this note.
I have a couple of questions about stage II. I am unable to last for
more than a couple of seconds, after engaging a walker. The speeder
will only take 2 or 3 hits and I crash, at which point I start running.
Once I come across the storm troopers I usually use the light sabre but
my energy is used up quicker than I can replace it. Is there a way
that I can make the speeder last alittle longer and is there an easier
way to get rid of the storm troopers on the snow.
I was able to use the cable once to destroy a walker but I don't
remember how I did it.
spoiler to follow
to get through the 2nd snow monster and the imperial probe
I destroyed the 2nd monster by standing on the oposite side of the
cravas and using the laser to destroy it. this takes quite a long time
though. but you don't have to fight him directly.
I got bye the imperial probe quickly using the light sabre. At the far
right of the screen there is the ledge ( which is also the way out )
jump up on the ledge and you will be able to hit the top of the probe
and avoid the missles at the same time.

possible spoilers on level 2
By using your radar and slowing down your snow speeder speed, you
should be able fire your cables when you are right infront of the
walkers. Its not too hard to effectively use all of you cables.
I was hit less by moving up and down alot in the snow speeder and I
would turn around and attack from the back too (also going up and down)
I jumped an awful lot and made sure I always grabbed that little power
dot which appears when you destroy a snowtrooper regardless of how many
snowtroppers were behind me.
hope this helps, I only had the game for one night and got to level 3
so I'll probably to rent it again soon.
