    Well, the game has several stages...
    
    In stage 1, you command Luke SkyWalker on his landspeeder in the desert
    moon of Tatooine. You must find the hidden caves, the Jawa SandCrawler
    and finally Moss Eisley Spaceport. Once you get to a cave you must
    negotiate the jumps, runs and baddies (Lukes armed only with a measley 
    single shot lazer pistol. In the caves you'll find a new automatic lazer
    pistol, deflector shields for the Millenium Falcon, R2 D2, energy, and 
    most importantly Ben Kenobi. Once you resuce Ben you're given your fathers
    light sabre, which is a much better weapon becuase it kills Jawas and
    Stormtroopers et all in one foul swoop. Once you have rescued R2D2 you
    can then proceed to Moss Eisley, where you'll find Han solo in a bar,
    surrounded by Bounty Hunters. Kill them and Han is with you (which is
    good coz he has quite an impressive blaster!).
    
    You then have to shoot your way to the docking bay, shot your way
    *through* the docking bay and finally you get to the Falcon.
    
    THIS is the tough part. the shields you collected in Tatooine are mow
    your deflector shields on the Falcon. You drift out of Hyper speed and
    staright into the rocky remains of the Alderan system. You have to
    navagate your ship through the astroid belt and for every two rocks
    that hit you, you lose one shield. I haven't done it yet even though
    I've got my initial shield level on MAX.
    
    The game seems to follow the film fairly closley. The booklet tells me
    that the next stage is on the Death Star with its dreaded Tractor Beam.
    
    The sounds are great, each character seems to have his own theme music
    which is a nice touch. Grapphics are impressive but a bit basic at
    times. Character movment could have been a bit more fluent and it would
    be nice if the characters could move quicker (although you can jump, run
    and do 'long jumps' (like in SMB).
    
    Life span - well, on my first couple of attempts I got severly fried
    within a minute, now I can get all through tattoine/moss Eisley on one
    life BUT I STILL CAN"T GET THROUGH THE ASTROIDS!!! 8(
    
    Final score 92%

    I rented this a few weeks ago from my local video emporium and agree
    that this is a fun game.
    
    But I have some questions for you seeing as you've completed the
    Tatooine section...
    
    	- I found Ben easy enough and got the light saber, but isn't Ben
    	supposed to come with you at this point??  He didn't appear on the
    	"player screen" after I found him.  Was there someplace else I was
    	supposed to go??
    
    	- After I found Han in the cantina, I made my way to Docking Bay 94
    	but couldn't jump up on the plaform.  It was too high/far.  Is there 
    	a trick here??
    
    This game is definitely on my list of things to buy...

    	Well, I believe you have to rescue R2 D2 from the SandCrawler
        first. Ben will then follow you although you can't control Ben as
        you can Han or Luke - he just gives advice.

    	Yup, go to the far right and you will see three green cargo blocks.
        Jump on the top one and take a short run from it onto the platform.
        Keep at it , it is possible but mind the stormtrooper waiting for
        you!!.
    
    
    Hope that helps. Anybody have any tips for getting through the astoroid

    War "buffs", and has just been added to my wish list.

    Well, last night I got through the astoroids!
    
    I made it to the Death Star and found the computer outlet where R2
    plugs in and tells me where Princess Lea is. I guess then I have to
    find her, but here it gets a bit tricky and its quite easy to get lost
    in the lifts etc...
    
    Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes.

    
    Well, I've now managed to get through the Death Star, destroy the
    tractor beam, find Princess Leia, rescue Leia, get through the trash 
    compactor and then got splatted trying to get back to the Mellenium 
    Falcon.
    
    Unfortunatley, I'm now having to sell my Nintendo (+games) due to 
    severe financial problems so I guess I'll see you all around. 8^(

    Well since Tony had to leave us, perhaps I can lend a hand. I have made
    it past the dreaded Death Star, but I cannot get the Falcon past the
    Tie Fighters, and back to the rebel base. It is a very tough stage.
    When Tony left us, he had made past the trash compactor, and was making
    his way back to the Falcon.  After you destroy the one eyed monster in
    the trash compactor, you and up in a room with conveyor belts, and alot
    of spikes. Watch out for the spikes.  (hint) Use Han Solo for most of
    the conveyor belt running as he jumps higher than the rest.
    After some practice you'll easily be able to surpass this screen.
    After that screen you are then in the cockpit of the Falcon, as in the
    asteroid screen, but you can fire. in this screen i was toast almost
    instantly.  I still had 6 sets of 3 lives left, but they went rather
    quickly.  I look forward to my next chance to play again. Perhaps
    tonight if my wife will let me.

This is one of those rookie questions. Now that I have the light saber,
how do I use it?  Or better yet, how do I use it to block the storm
troopers' laser fire?

P.S. I like the game except that I can not always shoot what I want.
     They are either too high or low for me to hit.  The bounty hunters
     outside the canteen are the worst for this.

    
    The light saber is by far the best weapon in this game.  It is the most
    practical, in alot of situations.  The key to using it is simply
    timing.  Instead of trying to block the troopers fire, try jumping over
    it, and landing within range of striking down the trooper.  ( Or
    Eggheads as my children call them.)
    When you are close enough to them, waste em !
    Use the saber most of the time.  
    In the canteena,  there is a being of some kind that shoots a very
    large blaster at you.  You will have to run, and jump over him.  Time
    your jumps well though because there will be another bad guy shortly
    after him.
    Those bounty hunters will be easily handeled bu running up to them and
    striking them with the saber in one swift motion.  If you can get to
    them before they fire, you should do ok.
    
    (hint) If you can't beat them .......................................
    Jump over them!

RE: light saber

I had hoped that it could be used to block the shots also.  That was one
of the ways it was used in the movies.  Oh well, I quess that I will try 
to get close to the storm troopers and see what happens.

I saw where someone (Tony?) said that there is a maximum for shields.
How many is the maximum?

    I don't know.  The other night when I played, I was allowed to hold 8
    shields.  But I'd swear that when I first played the game, I collected
    10 shields. Mabey some day my Wife (you is about to through the
    Nintendo out the window) will let me play long enough to get past those
    damm tie fighters.

    I think 8 shields is the max (you certainly can't use any more than
    that but you may be able to hold more I guess).
    
    It is possible to block shots with the light sabre but you have to get 
    the timing JUST right.

Well I have found that the max number of shields is 8.  One of
the easier caves lets me get them but when I went for the ninth
one, it did not increment the total.  So * is the total.

On another subject,  I finally made it through the death star maze
to the tracker beam room but can not figure out how to distroy it.
Do I climb the ladders and try to shoot it as I jump off?  Or is
this one of the places to use the light saber?

P.S. If you want to gain more lives, first collect the one at the 
     bottom of the maze and then go back to the computer room or
     the hanger bay.  When you enter the maze again, the whole 
     thing will be reset (including the power pills and free life.)

    
    Spoiler on Tractor Beam:
    
    
    To take out the tractor beam you have to get up a ladder and then jump
    off and fire simultainiously to shoot the little gizmo at the top (in
    the centre). It takes a few hits and is a bit tricky seeing as those 
    lazer cannons move.

I figured as much.  Now if I could only get thru the astroid belt
again.

    In the begining, Its easier to grab R2-D2 and THEN get Obi-wan-kenobi
    and light sabre (you don't need the sabre to get thru the sandcrawler)
    I get several sheilds by going in-out of the easy cave in the desert and
    pick up 1 or 2 in the docking bay.
    Is it possible to kill the purple alien with laser in the cantina? I
    usually just jump them.

I have tried to kill it with every type of weapon I had, and failed.
I suspect that the only thing to do is to jump over it.

    I never succeeded in killing it either - same goes for some of the
    bigger droids in the Death Star (like that big red sucker with the
    missles!).

    Before, use the map to explore every room, but don't go in the trash
    compactor - yet.

    
    The princess is found. But after finding her, there is the next
    problem.
    
    I took the Princess with me - kill the evil monster in the trash
    compactor - went to the Millenium falcon .. and what happens ........
    absolutly  n o t h i n g.
    
    Have I forgotten something. How can I start the spaceship???

Hello,

Is there anyone still around who has played this game?

Believe it or not, I just got it and I'm stuck in the
Sandcrawler.  I killed the Jawa on the main level; climbed
the ladder and killed the 2 Jawas there and got the blue
ball; I climbed the next ladder and killed the Jawa there
but couldn't get anywhere; I went down a level and tried
the "elevator" and killed another Jawa and that route
went no where.

What am I doing wrong or am I missing something?
