709.0. "NES & SNES - hook them up together" by MLCSSE::LANDRY (evitcepsrep ruoy egnahc) Tue Dec 31 1991 13:59

    Hi,

I'm sure most of you already know, but this is for those of you
who haven't gone out and bought the SNES system because you don't want
to throw away your NES tapes.

When you buy the SNES system, it shows you how to hook up the 2
systems together. Whichever you turn the power on is the one that will
    work.

My daughter got SNES for Christmas, but I didn't want to see NES
sitting there collecting dust and I was going to put it on our other
TV, when I read in the instructions how to hook them together. There's
no need to throw out your NES system/ nor is there a need for an
    "adaptor" for your old tapes...

Why would anyone throw out a NES set and cartridges just because they
purchased a SNES? We just got a SNES for Christmas and will keep the NES
on a separate TV. That way, if the kids want to play Super Mario World,
mom and dad can go downstairs and play Dr. Mario or Tetris. Or if someone
wants to watch a movie or show, a game system is available for use for the
other members of the family. Different strokes.....

What makes for a good game system is not necessarily fancy graphics,
sound, and processor speed, but the games themselves. SNES has a couple
of decent(alright, GREAT) games, but some of our favorite games are played
on the NES. I don't see the original becoming obsolete or the need for
adaptors so you can play both types of games on one system.

Would you believe that we have some video nuts in our family?
We have the following hooked to a 31" RCA super monitor tv and all
get used for the reasons stated in the previous reply. Great games
    get played a lot.

       1. NES
       2. SNES
       3. TGX-16
       4. GENESIS
       5. COLECOVISION W/ATARI ADAPTER
To top it off they are all quickly removeable to transport to another
tv so two people can play different game systems.....Now how do I
hook up the Game Boy to all this. 8>).
