695.0. "Final Fantasy Adventure - the other one for GB" by SOLVIT::JAFFE () Mon Nov 25 1991 12:57

    Seems there is a second Final Fantasy game for GameBoy. I picked it up
    a few days ago and although it is not as good as FF Legend, it is
    amusing me. For sake of clarity, this is the one in the green box where
    you name a boy and a girl and have NPCs (non player characters) that
    join your party along the way.

    Seems I am stuck and could use some help if anyone else is or has
    played this RPG.

    I have reached the desert town, and have talked to Davia and recieved
    the clue from the boy. I surmise that I need to find a scale in the
    Medusa cave to return the animal in Davia's mansion back to human form.
    The boy says "Palm trees.... and 8 Got it?". I have tried every
    concievable action in every concievable map cell yet I can not seem to
    find the Oasis cave of Medusa. I messed up a save command yesterday and
    wiped out my progress, restarted last night and I am almost up to that
    point again. Before I again reach frustration, can someone give me a
    spoiler. The only thing I know I didin't have first time through was a
    broad sword (the one you start out with). Seems I either dropped or
    sold this sword first time. Can't think of why this sword would do any
    good though.

695.1Solution to problem in .0SOLVIT::JAFFETue Nov 26 1991 15:2618
    I have solved my own problem. It seems that if I place a cry for help
    here, I go home and find my own solution. It should be noted that the
    solution to the problem mentioned in .0 is obscure and a real sick
    joke. For this reason, and not wanting to be the contributor to any one
    elses neurosis, I have put my finding behind a form feed.

    I have hence assisted in a suicide (a real tear jerker) and revived a
    harpest then assended the tower to defeat Davia. Onward never failing,
    I have climbed the waterfall in search of truth justice and the
    American way.

    spoiler follows:

     The solution is to go to the oasis that has two trees out in the
    center and to move your hero in a figure 8 around and between them once
    or twice. The entrance to the Oasis cave of Medusa will then be
    disclosed to you.

A QUESTION ABOUT FINAL FANTASY LEGEND II

I got this game recently and I like it a lot. I won it in 3 days, but I
couldn't seem to find the seven sword or the abacus. Does anyone know
how to find these items?

Help, Please.

Matt (Son of Don)

695.3Not talking about the right gameSOLVIT::JAFFEMon Dec 16 1991 16:456
    Don,
    I don't think your son is talking about the gameboy game FFII, I think
    he is playing a regular NES game by the same or similar title. There is
    no abacus or seven sword in the gameboy FFII game.

695.4SEVEN SWORD ISSUE - CLARIFICATIONMADCAP::GAUBATZSun Dec 22 1991 18:2519

Dear Joel,

I know that I'm talking about the right game because in the list of weapons
that a buyer can obtain, the seven sword and the abacus are listed. There is
a note next to the listing of the seven sword and it says that it's the
ultimate weapon and it's very hard to find. That's why I want to know
where it is.

I am not talking about Final Fantasy Adventure. You might have confused the
two?

695.5Final Fantasy Legend IISOLVIT::JAFFEThu Dec 26 1991 09:3411
    RE: Matt son of Don ...

    The game you are playing is called Final Fantasy Legend II. There are
    several games for game boy that have similar names. I am currently
    playing this as well. I have reached the town on Eco (sp) just having
    finished the dinosaur race, and have yet to find the items you
    mentioned. If I come across them, I'll let you know where to find them.

    Sorry for the confusion.

695.6Stuck on top of the WATERFALLOTOOA::DLALONDEThu Feb 06 1992 15:4418
    I need some help on Final Fantasie Adventure.

    I'm almost at the end. I've been through the TOWER OF DIME and went up
    the waterfall to another castle of some kind. I killed the DRAGON and
    now exploring the rest of the mazes.

    I get to one location where a door doesn't open. Two minotaur type
    figures are across a wall that I can't go through. One is on a plate
    that I believe would open the door if I turned it into a snowman. But
    the spell won't go through the wall. There is a corridoor that can leed
    me to the creature, buts its blocked what seem to be an BLACK ORD of
    some type. Try as I may, I can't destroy the ORB.

    Any hint would be appriciated.

    Thanks

695.7A very tricky part of the game SOLVIT::JAFFEMon Feb 10 1992 15:1417
    TO -.1

    I had to call Square to find out this answer so I will put it behind
    Form Feed to protect the innocent.

    The trick is that you can steer an icicle spell by using the cross
    hairs. Stand where logical, let one go and steer it around the corners
    of the maze until you hit the monster and turn him into a snowman. The
    door will open and you cna finish the game. The technique is difficult
    but easily learned over a few tries.

    Good luck

    Joel
