Well, to answer my own request: I asked a Nintendo game play counselor about Faria. They said it was good but required a lot of mapping in some of the castles/dungeons/whatever. I rented it last night and tried the first two towns and the castle. It seemed somewhat simplistic in the programming to me -- the graphics, windows, text, and mechanics of interaction when buying or talking were a bit raw. Fights are action scenes -- when you bump into monsters, the screen changes to a "close-up" screen from which you cannot escape until you defeat all the monsters on the screen. Faria is a standard role-playing game: Go from town to castle to town to tower, collecting things and defeating monsters. It may be good, but I'm not going to play it further. -- edp | |||||

Yes you can escape very easily, but you may loose some items or gold or experience points. There's a menu selection that alows you to escape from monsters. I rented the game yesterday and I agree, you need to map a lot. |
