632.1 | 15 ft from box to VCR works | SALEM::RUSSO | | Sat Apr 27 1991 00:30 | 6 |

I have my Nintendo hooked into my VCR. I have 15 foot cables going
between the two. I know this isn't what you asked for but maybe a
similar set-up is an option for you.

| Re .0:
What do you mean by "standard controller"? Do you mean the control
pads? I doubt the communications are very high speed or terribly time
dependent, so you can probably add quite a bit of length. Kay-Bee Toy
and Hobby used to sell extension cords for the controllers.
I've added several extra feet between the system box and the
television, but that is one way and any delay is unlikely to have any
effect on games -- except possibly for gun games. For gun games, you
should probably keep the separation below 1,500 miles, so the signal
has time to travel from the Nintendo to the television and back to the
gun before the next frame is drawn. (Sega systems use a more precise
gun-detection mechanism and should be kept within three miles of the
television.)
Seriously, my controllers are on an infrared remote, which I am sure
adds a slight delay. You should probably go ahead and try the
separation you wish.

632.3 | 25 feet of cable | MORO::MAPPS_RI | E.I.S. Training - IVO | Mon Apr 29 1991 15:18 | 7 |
| If you mean you want to locate the NINTENDO game a longer distance from
the tv, I have two games (in different rooms), with 25' extension
cables from Radio Shack hooked between the game and the tv. This also
works with the GENISIS game, but will not work with the TGX (video
really degrades with the TGX). Hope this helps

Thanks for your tips, but I think that is not clear,
Really that I want to do is the following:
<----------- A ----------->
+------+ ------------------------- +---------+
| TV | | Nintendo|
+------+ +---------+
| |
+-+------------------------------| |
+-+ |
Pad's <----------------- ? ---------------|
Nintendo +-+------------------------------------+
+-+
I think so that the 'A' distance not there is problem, because
is a coaxial cable, but the distance from the Pad's Nintendo to
Box's Nintendo (?) there is a problem, because I tested with 60 feet
and I had problems, now I need to cut the cable to support a small
distance, but I do not know what is the maximum distance that can be
supported? When I tested this configuration, really the TV was
by the side of the Nintendo. The problem that I saw, was the image of the
TV is freezed, I begin with not problem, but after 1 minutes more
less, the game is blocked.
The finallity of this configuration, is to change the cassets
since one room, and the childen are playing in the other room.

632.5 | Did you chech the connections? | DECK::WALTON | Stay low on the food chain. | Tue Apr 30 1991 14:27 | 7 |

I would guess that your problem is not the length of the cable. It
may be a bad connection somewhere. A well connected cable shouldn't
add any noticable resistance to the line and as edp pointed out the
time delay is miniscule. That's my 2.

I make the connecttion with 25 feet, and this worked, with 60
feet did not work. Somebody toll me that is necesary to rise the
voltage to increase the distance ( but this is hack).
