601.0. "Caveman Games" by STRAIT::WALTON (Stay low on the food chain.) Fri Feb 15 1991 08:41

My nephew just lent a copy of Caveman Games, which I had never heard
of before. I've only had it a few days but I like it so far.

It's sort of a Caveman Olympics with six events and up to six players
though only two compete at a time. You get to pick which one of the
five cavemen and one cavewoman you would like to be. You can play a
one-player version where the computer plays against you in the events
where it takes two players at a time.

    Here are the events:

        - Clubbing - Bonk your opponent before he gets you or one of you
                     falls off the cliff.

        - Mate Toss - see how far you can throw your mate by whirling around
and flinging them in the air.

        - Dino Vault - Vault over a dinosaur without getting eaten.

        - Sabre Race - You and your opponent try to out run a Sabre-tooth
                       tiger.

        - Firestarting - Rub 2 sticks together and blow while avoiding your
                         opponents swings at your head.

        - Dino Race - Ride a dinosaur in a steepchase race, but don't bonk
your mount on the head too much.

As you can see this is a game with a sense of humor. The action is
pretty good and it is definately more fun with more people especially
kids (or older kids like me). The only drawback in my opinion is having
to bang away on the A button as fast as you can during the running events,
it gets to be a real pain.

Anyway, I'd say it would be a good rental game particularly if you
wanted to keep more than two kids occupied at the Nintendo. I don't
know how much it cost but it would be a good buy if you like this kind
of game and could get it at a good price.

                                               - Dave
