Has anybody (besides me) bought this game? Well, I am stuck
on a few problems and hope (oh how I HOPE!!) someone out
there can help me on them. I need to open the truck
to the Edsel (sp?) but am having a hard time finding the
key needed to unlock the trunk. I am trying to *possible spoiler*
lift, open, pull, push whatever it takes to the cement slab
that is near the Edsel but have had no luck so far. Any hints,
out there????? Please?????

Forget about the slab; it is a one-way door from the other side. The
key to the truck is in:
the Green Tentacle's bedroom.
According to the hint book, to get the stamps to stick to the envelope,
you must first steam the envelope open. Don't ask me to explain it.

I played it on a Commodore 128. It's a good adventure game. You point
to verbs on a list at the bottom of the screen and objects in the
picture at the top -- like Shadowgate but smoother. The game is more
flexible than Shadowgate and is probably a better introduction to
adventure games.

| < How is this game? >I find this game intrigueing(sp?) with
enough puzzles to keep me busy - more so than Shadowgate though
that was a good game also. In Maniac Mansion, you have a party of 3
who venture into Maniac Mansion with the intent of saving Dave's
girlfriend, Sandy, who has been kidnapped by the evil Dr. Fred and
must solve many puzzles along your way - this game is fun for me but
then I LIKE video games...
<What is it selling for? (saw it in the Sears Catalog for $54.99).>
I paid $49.99 for this game at Toys R Us just 3 days ago...

O.K. I need a nudge in the right direction. I managed to somehow
get down to the lab and even ENTERED it and the purple tentacle
was going to send me back to the dungeon and Weird Ed came along
and said "I'll take care of sucker face" and I wasn't even ready
to deal with the meteor, etc. Now that I have started the game
anew, and AM ready to meet Mr. Meteor, Weird Ed does NOT come
along and save me the purple tentacl. HELP!!!!!!! What have
I forgotten to do, I desperately NEED his help!!
Thanks for any help you can give me,

534.9 | How to get the film developed | SDSVAX::SWEENEY | Patrick Sweeney in New York | Wed Dec 26 1990 18:55 | 16 |
| re.6
You first must have wendy and michael on your team. Give weird Ed
his box then he will ask you to find some film he lost.
The film is outside by the bush. Then go into the pantry after you get
the film. Use Michael to get the developer liquid on top of the pantry
cabinets. The liquid will spill, get the sponge from Ted's room and
rip the bushes on the left side of the house and the grating covered by
the bushes. Go into the grating and use the sponge to soak up the
white puddle of developer then go into the darkroom and use the sponge
to put developing liquid into the tray. Before you do that turn on the
red light. Then Michael will develop the film.

| I bought this game for my sister for Christmas. We were thrown into
the dungeon several times and can't figure out how to get out.
We have tried pushing the loose brick. No matter how quick we are, and
which character we are using, we can't make it out the door before it
closes.
Is this just to throw you off or is it possible to make it out the door
before it closes? Do you need a certain key to open the pad locks on
the other door?
Thanks, Pam

| How to get out of the dungeon
You first need to have at least two people in the dungeon.
Position one person in front of the loose brick and the other in front
of the door out of the dungeon.
Have the person in front of the loose brick push it. Then choose NEW
KID and choose the kid in front of the door. Then get the kid to go
outside the door. You must do this in five seconds, then the door will
close. This has been tried a few times. So far, I have not made a
discovery of how to get everyone out of the dungeon at once. No key I
have found will open the dungeon door.

| Hi!
I rented Maniac Mansion a few days ago and thought it was really neat.
If I ever rent it again, I'd like to know how to solve my many
problems. Here they are:
How do you play the video games?? I fixed the wires.
How do you read the tiny print under the wall safe??
Is Ed's hamster important?
How do you get up to the hatch in the paint blotch room???? If you
have to make the plant grow, how do you do it????
Is the keypad in the blue hall just for making the house blow up, or
does it have a purpose??? If it is important, where's the combonation??
Is "Chuck the Plant" important??
I always put Bernard (the geek) and Michael (the photographer) on my
team. Any outright spoilers answering my questions would be very very
welcome.

You need a quarter.
> How do you read the tiny print under the wall safe??
Use a telescope.
> Is Ed's hamster important?
It's hiding something.
> How do you get up to the hatch in the paint blotch room????
Climb the plant.
> If you have to make the plant grow, how do you do it????
In old sci-fi/fantasy/horror/silly movies, radioactive water would make
ants become giant ants.
> Is the keypad in the blue hall just for making the house blow up, or
> does it have a purpose??? If it is important, where's the combonation??
I forget, which room is the blue hall? What rooms are next to it,
what's in it, et cetera?
> Is "Chuck the Plant" important??
It is lovely to look at.

Where do you find the quarter, I found a dime?
Where is the wall safe? I tried moving all the paintings but with

Where is the telescope?
Where can you find gas for the chainsaw?
Do you get radioactive water from the outside pool?
How do you fix the wires? I tried with Bernard but he just got
zapped.

clues out.

I know the answers to three of your questions:
***Spoiler***
Get by Edna and up the ladder in her room for the wall safe.
As to the water, yes.
Fixing the wires is tricky, so I'll give you a two-part clue.
To fix the wires, you must avoid being shocked. If this doesn't give
it to you, read what's behind the <FF>.
There's a fuse box in the basement.
Work fast and good luck!

What i mean by the blue hall is the hall you enter through the security
door. The medical room and arcade are adjecent to it. The keypad I'm
talking about is somewhere to the left (your left) of the security door
where the wall and floor meet. You can't see it.

I checked the map and hints and cannot figure out what that keypad
might be. You've apparently been in the people's bedrooms, the medical
room, and the arcade, so you've been through each of the doors in that
vicinity.
You wrote that the keypad can't be seen. Did you find it by moving the
cursor around? If it is not visible on the screen, perhaps it is only
a bug?

| Hi - Thanks for the info on the keypad. I beat the game without knowing
what it was.
RE .23: getting the combination to the safe is complicated, so I'll put
it all behind the <FF>.
*****1st degree Spoiler*****
First, you must have the following: a jar of pool water, a can of
pepsi, and two dimes (some are in Ed's piggy bank).
First, you must open the painting that covers the safe. Second, you
must have given the jar and pepsi to the plant in the paint blotch
room. (You may have done that already.) You must go through the hatch.
Put a dime in the telescope's coin slot and push the right button. Do
that once again, then use the telescope. There's the combination!!

| Thanks, Adam, I was using four dimes to turn telescope and was
looking into it each time. I assume you to mean that I do not look
into the telescope each time and only use 2 dimes. I could only
see a corner window and a spider. I was able to contact meteor
police and they promptly responded, but as usual, I didn,t know the
combination to the inner door. any phone numbers or combinations,
spoilers are welcome. Jeff

I'll place them after the <FF< possible spoilers.
1. How do you get the stamps on the envelope?? Do you boil the radio
active water in the microwave?? That's the only time that I saw
steam...therefore also dying at the same time from the radiation.
2. Playing the video game :: I fixed the wires, still no go I also had
the quarter. DOes one of the other characters other than wendy or dave
have to use it
3. What;s the purpose of the radio in the pool?? Is it one of those
needless items that we need to have?
4. The telephone: I tried fixing it with the tools and of course no
go....
