    I have already entered a note asking about the AD&D game
    "Pools of Radiance" which is soon to be ported over to
    NES.  But I am now told that "Heroes of the Lance" will
    be the first AD&D game ported and that it will happen
    some time before Christmas, 1990.  "Pools" will be
    released on NES sometime in Q1 1991.
    
    Has anyone seen "Heroes of the Lance" in the NES version
    yet?

    I am definitely thinking about buying this game, if and when
    it is ported to NES.  So - I am curious to know why you
    dislike it so much?  I could easily be persuaded to save
    my money.  
    
    What, specifically, is so bad about this game that you
    would rather "vomit razor blades" than play it again?
    I mean, I'm not anxious to get all cut up myself...  ;^)

    All NES cartridges are made of plastics and they do smell awful.
    But what has that got to do with playing the game.
    
    In other words, I'd also like to know the reasons why the game is being
    rated poorly. I've been waiting for this game since last year.

    Well, if my word isn't good enough...:-)
    
    	For starters this game is slooooooowwwwww.  You walk around
    this dungeon at the rate of about a foot every 10 secs.  If, 
    (perish the thought) you want to run, you have to walk for about
    five seconds before it starts running.
    
    	Secondly, I thought the combat really stunk.  It may be that
    my controllers have a vast amount of dirt infesting them, but I
    don't really think so.  The game has a vast amount of beasties
    that are hungry for your hide,  and some of them are short.  If
    you have the misfortune of meeting up with one of these short 
    dudes, you have to swing you weapon downward.  I had a great deal
    of difficulty trying to swing down.  That added to the fact that
    you have to get right next to a nasty to whack it while it tears
    open a new orifice in you really bummed me out about the combat
    encounters.  
    	I cannot put enough emphasis on the fact that I wouldn't 
    recommend this game if it was the only NES game in existence.
    If you have a computer version of this game and you think that
    the NES version might be interresting, you will be extremely
    dissapointed.  The only saving grace for it was the graphics,
    but i still would much rather look at super mario III graphics.
    	I'm still enraged that i shelled out the 2.50 to rent this
    plastic waste.  :-(

    Yep - thanks for the info.  It's off my "buy" list.  Sounds
    like the `lance' in the title should be taken to the
    game itself - like lancing a boil.
