489.0. "Homework First... " by HOLIDY::WHITTALL (The 'PROPS' Man) Fri Jul 13 1990 09:36

	First the disclaimers...

o I've not seen this product
o I own no interest in the company

	There...That's that :-)

I saw this article in next weeks TV Guide in the Cheers 'N' Jeers
section, and thought someone out there in netland might be interested.

	[TV Guide July 14-20]
	[Page 31]

"CHEERS to Safe Care Products, Inc. for a new gadget called
HOMEWORK First. Developed as a cure for what the company
coyly calls "Nintendonitis" - irritability and obsessive
behavior, mostly in children - HOMEWORK First is essentially
a lock that prevents inserting a game cartridge into the
Nintendo console. Safe Care president Tom Lowe came up with
the idea after hearing a friend complain that his son frequently
opted for playing the popular videa games instead of doing his
homework. Concerned parents can order one by phone at 1-800-
235-6646, extension 480. The cost is $15.95, plus shipping and
handling - or about half the price of a Nintendo game. Think
	about it."

If a parent can't control a child, then the option is to get
    rid of the nintendo system.

Parents down the street bought one these gadgets and the kid
threw a fit. It's in the closet now......

Our system is in a cabinet that my husband added a lock to. The draw is
locked during the day and opened on weekends or after homework is
checked. This has proven to be a great solution for Nitendoites and
unfinished homework. WE (my husband and I) control the key and the use
of the system. (Now all I have to do is figure out how to get my husband
away from the system during the week BEFORE 2-3:00am.)

Gee, doing my homework got me this nice job which let me afford to buy
the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Sega Master System, the Sega
Genesis, and the Super NES. Now I'm thinking about getting a
    TurboGrafx-16 and a Gameboy.
