479.0. "Pinball Quest" by GUIDUK::KRUG (Der Krug geht so lange...) Mon Jun 25 1990 09:01
At the Seattle Power Festival (see 402.21), in the "Power Walk," I
tried a new game called "Pinball Quest." I couldn't determine the
manufacturer.
The pinball action seemed fairly realistic to me. Controls included
left and right flippers, tilt, and move flippers to next (previous)
screen.
The game includes four separate games: Circus, Golf, and two others I
don't remember the names of. One of the others was like a fantasy game
with a cemetery. The games are progressive (at least the fantasy one
was) in the sense that if you get the ball up high enough, you can
advance to the next higher screen and move your flippers up. Of
course, you could fall back, too.
Once I got the hang of the controls, the action was surprisingly
realistic. I even saved the ball a few times using tilt. I think you
could have up to four (sequential) players. This struck me as a real
alternative to the standard "shoot-em-up" type games. I'm going to buy
it at the first opportunity. Availability was listed in the festival
program as "soon."
