361.0. "Jordan vs. Bird" by MTHOOD::JOYNERGL () Wed Nov 29 1989 18:58

    Has anyone tried Jordan vs. Bird? I am contemplating getting either
    J vs. B or Hoops, which ever is better. Any reviews would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Glen Joyner.

    It depends on what you like best. On J VS. B, the 1on1 game is not that
    great. The graphics are good and the players have the same type of play
    they do in the real game. There is also a slam dunk contest and a three
    point shooting contest. Both of these are great, but I don't know if
    that makes the game worth buying.

    In Hoops you have a wide selection of players to choose from. All the
    players excel in different areas of the game of basketball. There is a
    speedy 3 pt. shooter, a fancy passer, a mean inside player, and even a
    couple of ladies. You can play 1on1 against a friend or the computer.
    The same goes for 2on2. But there is a twist, against the computer on
    2on2, 2 players can play on the same tean against the computer. The
    contest of the game is to win a certain amount of games in a tournament
    style contest. I believe you have to win 16 games and you have beat the
    game.

    Hope I have been of some help,

361.2Hope for Hoops!MTHOOD::JOYNERGLThu Nov 30 1989 18:036
    Thank you very much! It looks to me that Hoops is a little bit
    better. If anyone else has a review of either Hoops or J vs. B,
    please don't hesitate to enter it. I could use all the advice I
    can get.
    Thanks again,
    Glen "Hoops" Joyner.

    Hoops is also supposed to be able to take advantage of the upcoming 4
    player NES controller.

    I rented BvJ last night and was very disappointed. Taking a shot works
    different in each of the different games, sometimes you press A,
    sometimes B. The one-on-one was hard to control and rather
    uninteresting. I had trouble gauging the depth of the court. Jordan's
    slamming is fun, but boring after you've seen each example a few times.
    Bird gets too many 3-point shots, so the 1-1 is very tough for Jordan.

    I liked hoops a lot better, especially the cooperative play against the
    computer. BvJ looks better, but the game play stinks.

Anyone have any comments on how HOOPS compares to "Double Dribble" ?
We rented Double Dribble a while ago and it was ok, but haven't tried
Hoops yet.

361.9Best Basketball Game?MARX::MCCROSSANMon Oct 14 1991 11:585
I'd like to revive this discussion if I may. I'm looking for a Basketball game
and was wondering if anyone would like to offer an update to the opinions in
this note.

Thanks
