Don't get your hopes too high, but I promised in an earlier note to give information on a company that has a hardware adapter that plugs into the Nintendo and an IBM-PC allowing software development for the Nintendo. They have a compiler that runs on the IBM-PC and down loads the code to the adapter in the Nintendo for quick testing of code. They also have a bullentin board for programing info. BUT, alas, they only built a few of these and they were all provided for software contracters for writing games that they will release shortly. The games themselves will be standard cartridges. In talking with them, they might sign on more programmers if they are skilled. With their set up you can do the programming for a part of a game at home, and down load the code to them over a modem. The comapny is: Color Dreams 2700 East Imperial Hwy. Brea, CA. 92621 (714) 579-0693 If you are a programmer, ask for Tom Lin, and he will have some one contact you. It would be great if someone on the notes file could get access to this hardware/software and share what he learns! Ray T.

338.2 | Expensive SNES Development System (I know nothing other than this note) | STC::STC::TIMMONS | Stack Overflow | Wed Nov 06 1991 17:28 | 42 |
Article 22438 of rec.games.video: >From [email protected] (Larry Kaplan) Subject: Genesis/SNES Development System Through a posting on the net, I corresponded with a person who owns for a company that makes development systems for Genesis and SNES. Here is some mail from him: > Our system consists of ROM emulator hardware plus an integrated window > debugger. Add to that a blindingly quick assembler, graphics libraries > for budding game programmers, graphics tools etc. > Uses a PC (PC-1 thru 386) as a host. Graphics tools use VGA. > The rom emulator I designed [I was in charge of hardware, > Kevin, my partner wrote 80% of the software] works perfectly > with DMA's ... It's EXPENSIVE (I use a megabyte of Hidensity Static > RAM...) .... Ours is for sale -- in fact that's the PRIMARY focus of > our business. We only take game contracts as a side-line. > The Genesis system is $4,500 for one. Qty. discounts apply. > SFX system is also $4,500. > Those prices include 1Meg of emulation memory > Scott (415) 968-1164 Developer Resources > [email protected] (Scott Statton) I have no connection with Scott or his company and haven't seen or used his device. I don't mean to advertise for him, but I know there is a lot of interest out there for developement systems. All of us with PC's and game systems would like to play around. I was hoping if there were enough interest, a bunch of us could get together and do a group purchase. If you are interested, email me. I work nearby to Scott, so I can get a look up close. -- Larry Kaplan (415)335-1584 Silicon Graphics, Mtn View, CA 94039 USA |
