| | Well, I went out and purchased this game...I'm not sorry, my kids
    love it!

    Game name: The Bugs Bunny Secret Castle - by Kemco-Seika

    Summary: Bugs Bunny must save his sweetheart, Honey Bunny who has
    	      	been abducted by a host of characters; Sylvester, Willey
    		Coyote, Yosemite Same and Daffy Duck (I expect to see
    		the road runner come zipping by!). They have hidden
    		her in a secret castle. Bugs must search the castle
    		eating carrots to get from room to room. There are
    		stairs, pipes, etc. that Bugs must use to get from level
    		to level within each phase - there are 60 phases. You
    		start the game with 5 Bugs, and get an additional Bugs
    		for each level phase completed. The object is to complete
    		the 60 phases, avoiding the "cast of characters".

    		There are no guns, swords, etc.. There is a boxing
    		glove that Bugs can pick up and throw at any of the
    		characters to know them out. He is also able to drink
    		carrot juice to become invisible, drop boxes, safes
    		pots and weights from ledges onto characters to knock
    		them out. The graphics are great, music is good and
    		the characters looks surprisingly good.

    		The game is close to Mappyland in play and objective.
    		If your looking for a great game for younger players
    		in the 5-8 yrs old range, consider this one!

    		Price at Toys R Us is $39.99 - Child World is $44.95

    :-)

    	The game sounds good but does it have a password and or a continue
    	feature???? I hope so because if there is 60 phases to go through
    	I would hate to be way thru and have to start from scratch.
        especially for younger kids. Or are there different level selects
    	that can be made???

    	I would like to get this for my daughter but only if it had
    	some kinda password or easy continue feature built in.

    	Thanks

| | Yes, it does have a password feature. I think there's a new password
    after every level which is completed successfully.

| 309.4 | Passwords and more! | MAGIC1::BEAUDET | JUNK_YARD_DOG! DTN:297-6276 | Mon Aug 21 1989 09:31 | 31 |
| | Sorry, have been unable to respond before now...

    The game has passwords for each of the 60 "phases". They are simple
    4 letter passwords also, which don't require kids to put in 16 letter
    & number combinations!

    It took my son exactly a total of 4 1/2 hrs to "beat" this game!
    His first sitting was about 1 hr 10 min and got him to level 13. His
    next sitting lasted 1 hr 45 minutes and got him to level 42. The last
    "assault" lasted about 1 hr 35 min. Of course, he used the password
    feature 3 times (he recorded the passwords for every level! Though
    my son is about to turn 6 yrs old, he excells in adventure/maze
    type games (expect where it is necessary to read "advice" aka Link
    or "map out" caverns/rooms. Playing directly without stopping he
    has achieved level 38 - but he generally walks away from the game
    after about 1 hr 30 min - he has a 2 hr a day time limit.
    My daughter (4 yrs) has gotten to level 11 alone, but no higher.
    She likes to enter passwords and roam around the different levels
    and experience the different characters, which come at higher levels.

    The password feature makes a big difference (as with any games)
    and getting an extra life after completing each phase increases
    your chances of survival.

    Although a simple game, I think with the graphics and characters
    and the "theme"...the game is a good choice for younger players.
    I might put the age limit for interest at 7-8 yrs for repetitive
    play.

| 309.5 | another opinion from the peanut set | DUGGAN::WILLINGER |  | Wed Nov 08 1989 12:24 | 18 |
| | My 6 year old did not like this game. Although the previous
    descriptions are generally true, she (and I) found the playability of
    the Bugs character too limited. He doesn't jump or do anything but
    move in a straight line. The character image shows no arm or leg
    movement at all - just a lifeless, flat picture of Bugs. When he goes
    up or down a staircase, or a pipe he can't change direction. It
    basically doesn't feel like you are in control. The same is true for
    the "enemies". They're cute cartoon characters, but too rigid.
    Contrast this with Super Mario Bros. or Adventure Island where
    playability is good, and you can better understand what I mean.

    This game seems far too simple to justify its $40-$45 price tag.
    The game part of the program could be written in less than 200 lines.
    The graphics are okay, but very repetitive, as is the music. I guess
    it has become a standard thing to ask big bucks for these games.

    Rent it first if you can (this is generally sound advice).

| 309.6 | Price definitely not justified | SA1794::CUZZONES | Mondo Bondo | Sun Nov 12 1989 14:29 | 9 |
|  |     I have to agree with .5 ... I feel like I wasted $45 on this one.
    I was able to sit down and play it all the way through in one or
    two sittings (stopped for dinner). My 8 year old was frustrated
    in several places but when I showed him that patience overcomes
    all obstacles, he breezed through it, too. It's collecting dust
    until the 2 year old gets a little older (he's already a mean bubble
    bobbler, though).

| 309.7 | DIFFERENT GAME? | JUPITR::POTTERG |  | Tue May 01 1990 09:32 | 6 |
| | How many levels in this game? The instruction book says 60 and I'm up
    to 75. Did they change the game? The price of it was only $24.99 at
    Toys R' Us not $45 as mentioned before.

    Thanks,
    GP

| | Is this game still $24.99 at Toys-R-us? I rented it for my nephews
    this weekend and they loved it (one just turned 7 yesterday and the
    other turns 5 in two weeks). I don't understand what was said in .5.
    Bugs Bunny's arms and legs do move. It would be nice if he could
    jump too though.

    The kids loved it though and got up to stage 16 (each taking a turn
    when one made it to the next level or one died).

    The two of them, and their 3 year old brother all commented on how much
    they liked the music.

|  |     Well, I just called Toys-R-Us and this game is now $19.99.   Can't
    believe how much it came down in price.

| 309.11 | It is great for youngsters! | PINGS::OGREN |  | Tue Aug 21 1990 13:43 | 21 |
| | I agree Pam! We got it for our 5 year so he would have a game of
    his own to enjoy (and to get Nintendo time away from his older
    brother). He loves it! In fact when kids come over, they are much
    more apt to play Bugs Bunny than other games.

    I can't help but think that earlier replies where based on a field
    test version ;-). All characters (Bugs, Sylvester, Daffy Duck, Yosemite
    Sam) are animated when running - arms and legs nicely swinging!
    The game is very easy to understand - Bugs has to eat all of the
    carrots without being touched by a baddie. There are, I believe,
    64 different scenes for Bugs to solve in order to rescue honey bunny
    from the crazy castle.

    Each scene is a simple maze covering about 2 TV screens. Bugs goes
    up and down via stairs and doors, and can jump down. Later screens
    introduce pipes where Bugs wiggles his way to the other end.

    It's cute, easy to learn, and has minor puzzle solving. I think
    it's terrific for younger Nintendo-ites!

| 309.12 | New Bugs Bunny Game | BAGELS::MATSIS |  | Mon Sep 17 1990 15:08 | 5 |
| | Has anyone with kids tried the new Bugs Bunny game? I saw it in
    Toys R Us. It's called Bugs Bunny Birthday Party (or something close
    to that).

    Thanks, Pam

| 309.13 | BUGS BUNNY'S BIRTHDAY BLOWOUT | FSTVAX::HEMOND | THE AMERICAN HARP | Wed Jan 30 1991 10:50 | 15 |
| | Rented BUGS BUNNY'S BIRTHDAY BLOWOUT game last night. Game is
    definitely more difficult than BUGS BUNNY'S CRAZY CASTLE.
    A button is to jump - B button to control mallet to destroy enemies.
    Couldn't find a password option on the game. Does have a continue.
    You start with 3 lives, go through the round to a bonus area where you
    can receive extra lives. If you get the round and die in the next one
    you can continue at the start of your new round.

    Do not know how long this game is as my son made it to Round 3 section
    3 than had to shut it off due to bedtime. Also I do not know how much
    it costs to buy (we are now renting any game we might be interested in
    before buying it - due to the fact that we got "stuck" once too often
    with games we did not like).

    Hope this helps any interested parties
