278.0. "Nintendo PINBALL" by MORO::WHICKER_BI () Wed May 31 1989 16:26

    I've just bought the Nintendo pinball game. Anyone got any hints
    or spoilers on running up the score or getting extra balls?

    Have you seen any other Nintendo-compatible pinball games out there
    in the world? Which would you recommend? Which would you avoid?

    Regards,
      BW

    RE:-1

     I bought the PINBALL game about 6 months ago and have been
    disappointed with it. As far as I recall, you only get a free ball
    after racking up 50K points and after that you are just playing
    for a score.

    I have not seen any other PINBALL games out there.

I found disappointing is that you can't nudge or "tilt" the game. Also,
there is no way of earning any 'free' games. True, you can earn one extra
ball if you reach 50,000 points, but as already mentioned, that is all.

When you reach 100,000 points, the paddles will become invisible and will
become visible again if you reach either 150,000 or 200,000; I can't
remember which.

Aside from all that, the game does behave more like a pinball machine
and offers much more than the old Atari 2700 Pinball game when it comes to
graphics, game play options, and ball action. I've found it a good game
to use on visitors who aren't familiar with the Nintendo system or of
a good video system; everyone understands it immediately. Good for house
parties. But, because the only main objective is to just make the most
points, playing by oneself will get boring in a short while.

278.3Does ANYTHING ELSE Happen?MORO::WHICKER_BITue Jun 27 1989 21:325
    Does anthing else happen throughout the game? I've gotten the
    score to 750,000 but nothing different has occurred...same old stuff...
    I was wondering what would happen if I got the score up to 1,000,000?

    Anybody been up there yet? Did anything happen?
278.4Nothing else happensCOMET::SHEEHANTue Jun 27 1989 22:516
    re: .3

    I have had the score up to around 500K and nothing new happens.
    It's great up until 100 - 150K and then nothing special occurs.

    This is definitely PINBALL. Personally I enjoy it, but the screen
    changes are HARD on the eyeballs. ROLLERBALL must be quite different
    because I honestly couldn't see someone getting over a million in
    PINBALL very quickly. Aside from the fact it'd probably take over
    an hour just to accumulate that many points ....

    I think it's GREAT for the kids. My 4-year old has high score of
    the house, and my 2-year old has fun pushing the buttons! Of course
    when we say "Jason, HIT it!", he punches the television (-:
    Similar to in Mario Bros. "Jason JUMP!", he jumps up and down.

    Anyway, I think it's a nice break instead of having things trying
    to kill you all the time. Of course if I had a dime for everytime
    I said 'Just one more game ....' zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

    So then, WHAT'S ROLLERBALL??

278.7PIN-BOT is #1DEMING::OSHAUGHNESSYFri Jun 08 1990 12:526

    	Another real good pinball game is PIN-BOT. It is just like the real
    	pinball game. Some of the differences is when you get up to around
    	3 million points the ball changes into a trangular ball. This makes
    	for some wierd bounces. It goes for around $44 at Kay-Bee toy. In
    	my mind PIN-BOT is the best pinball game Nintendo has out to date.
