273.0. "Older games...how to get?" by FACT01::LAWRENCE (Jim/Hartford A.C.T.,DTN 383-4523) Tue May 02 1989 17:12

    Hi,

    I would like to know how you get ahold of older games. I am aware
    that the kids swap the cartridges around, but if that option is
    not available to a kid, how do they get the older ones? My daughter
    wants to get Spellunker, a cave exploring game, and the stores just
    tell you to write Nintendo. What's the scoup from the experts here?

    Try the FAIR anywhere. They used to have a board up of
    all the games they have or can get. Must have been at
    least 50.

    Also places like PARK SNOWS in Fitchberg. They rent
    and will sell about 100 games.

    Luck, and let us know

273.2Still available?MAGIC1::BEAUDETJUNK_YARD_DOG! DTN:297-6276Wed May 03 1989 09:1814
    I have seen this game for sale recently - new. Check out Child
    World (call) in Shrewsbury or Fitchburg - can't remember which.
    It may have even been at Toys-R-Us in Auburn...it's hard to keep
    track.

    However, my son rented this game about 8 weeks ago and was VERY
    dissappointed. While the graphics/sound were v.good, game action
    and control of the character was very sluggish - often he wouldn't
    jump or move when told...and my son tried both the stock controller
    and his NES Advantage stick.

    If you haven't experienced this game on Nintendo - rent it first.
    It is at Function Electronics & Music Forum - both in Fitchburg.

273.4Tevex no moreLUNER::WEIERMon Feb 26 1990 11:176
    re .3 ... I just tried calling Tevex in search of Arkanoid, and
    they said they don't deal with Nintendo anymore because they 'didn't
    treat people like people'. I can't say the guy at Tevex was much
    better. Anyway, save your time, don't call them!

    I tried Sears, but they said they don't have it (do you have an
    order number??). I finally found a used one for $50.00 -- which
    was more than I wanted to spend for a used tape! Also, Arkanoid
    II (the Japanese version with a US adaptor will be available soon).

    I tried calling the following places for 'old' Nintendo Packs

    - Nintendo  800-422-2602
    - TriSoft   800-637-6274
    - BEST      800-950-2378

    Usually they can get older packs, but not Arkanoid. However, the
    guy at Nintendo DID hint that because of the number of requests
    that they were getting that it MAY go back into production, but
    it would be at least 3 months from when it went into production
    until it hit the stores.

    	Happy Hunting!!

273.7 Japanese Arkanoid CURIE::BERNIERMon Feb 26 1990 21:0317

    	Patty,

    	Do you know where and how much the Japanese Arkanoid II will coast?
    	I know that before the US version of Mario III was available the
    	Japanese version of Mario III coast $89.00 with adapter in
    	Canada. Usually a video store will pay this much and get their
    	money back from renting it out for $4.00 a night.

    	Can you send me mail or post the place where you got the
    	info about Arkanoid II

    	Thanks

273.8Ark II - $125.00EARRTH::WEIERTue Feb 27 1990 15:4215
    Wayne,

    	Arkanoid II will cost about $125.00 (this includes the adaptor).
    I found this out from a lady in NJ (she buys and selss used
    catridges). I have the number at work, but I'm out today and
    tomorrow, will post it Thursday. If you don't want to wait, I think
    the person at BEST gave me the number (BEST # is about -.2). Don't
    know the name of the outfit. BTW, we're not going to buy the $50.00
    Arkanoid from her, so if she still has it, it's all yours!
    MC/VISA, they'll mail it out.

    		Good Luck!

273.9Too much I'll wait it outMCIS5::BERNIERWed Feb 28 1990 16:5417

    	Hi Patty,

    	Both ways ($125 Ark II and $50 Ark I) are a little steep for me.

    	I guess I'll have to wait and wait and wait for them to show up
    	at Toys R Us

    	Why is it that they are charging so much money for Arkanoid II
    	when its all in Japanese anyway.
    	Are they taking us to the cleaners or what!

    	Thanks for the info
