| My brother bought this game, and I couldn't agree with you more.
The game itself is bad enough to try to win, and if you do succeed
in killing Jason, he threatens to get you next time.
I guess I'd better stay with LINK, at least you stand a chance.

Personally I like Link to, but Jason Is much harder! I have had
the game for a couple of weeks now and we can't seem to figure out how to
beat it. Anybody had any luck??

figured out strategy. The guy we borrowed it from is hooked. He's
making progress with it. Personally I'll stay with Link (FT13th gave

Note 256.0 I NEED HELP GETTING RID OF JASON!!! No replies

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just purchase Friday the 13th and have to agree that it probably isn't
for children but - I'm hooked. I need help though. How can I tell
when I have lit all of the fireplaces so I can get the torch and
also I have not been able to find the pitchfork or the sweater (or
does that come after finding the torch) I always seem to end up
running out of time (all the children die). If anyone can add
a
(oops) a spoiler for me it would be appreciated and I can get rid
of Jason once-and-for-all, and some sleep!!!!!

how to kill Jason then it can't be done. We must be missing some hidden

If you cannot figure out how to beat a game is there a way to contact

| I purchased the game about 3 weeks ago and I finally killed him!
I found all the items in the book and I was able to work out a strategy
to stay alive.
Spoiler
You have to light all the large cabins' fireplaces. Use MARK as
the counselor to do this - he's very fast. Keep the slow counselor
near the lake so they can help if the children are attacked.
Have Mark go into the woods when it's light out so he doesn't have
to worry about the wolf. Grab all the vitamins that you can find.
Keep killing those zombies! If you kill enough of them you will
*find* a machete.
Don't even bother to go in the cave until you find the flashlight.
Mark will probably find it.
Each time you go in the large cabins to light the fireplace look
all around for a letter (turn in every direction)
Once Mark find the torch, give it to another counselor near the
lake. In fact try to pass off the good weapons.
The sweater, pitchfork and axes are in the cave but his mothers
head is guarding them - she's just as tough as Jason.
That's enough...pleasant camping (hahahahahaha <----diabolical
laughter)

| Spoiler warning!!!
Take your fastest counselor (like Mark) and have him go into every
large cabin (there's only about 7 of them) and light the fireplaces!
Don't forget to look around in every direction when you go in them
because notes will tell you where weapons are.
Also have him pass along weapons to other counselors.
The best way not to let Jason kill you is to only throw when he
backs off. When he goes to hit you duck to the side (hit down and
right or left at the same time)
When all the fireplaces are lit, look around for the flashlight
(usually it is in one of the cabins by the lake) and THEN go in
the cave. You'll see room there that weren't visible before.
I have never been able to get out of the woods easily. That dog
is a killer!
Good luck!

Is it worth going into the cave before Jason is *killed* the first

Are there multiples of the *major* weapons and if the counselor

no flahslight! After you have the flashlight, make a bee-line to
the cave. Not only will you find other weapons, but you will also
find the sweater and the pitchfork!
There are multiples of the major weapons around. I never went by
a large cabin...always go inside and look in every direction with
every step.
I had the counselor with the flashlight die, and I did find another
flashlight later. I never had two flashlights at the same time
though. I'm not sure if that is possible.

Mike.. Guess what? I went into the cave, beat Jason's mother's head
(HAHAHA!!! old witch), got out, and I didn't have the flashlight!!!
(I should mention that's only because I memorized the path inside
the cave) As far as the sweater and pitchfork. I've yet been able
to find them.
This may be considered a spoiler, but if you if you go into a smaller
cabin, and hit the start button, you can change counselors... Also
there are times where I would go to the big cabin around the lake
closest to the woods, and always find a torch.
I'm concidering just purchasing this game, instead of renting it
all the time!!!
Only once have I found anything useful in the cabins in the woods..

I noticed that you can switch councelors, and you can hand the wepons
to other councelors.
May be a spoiler.....
I never finished this game, but I figured that the way to do it,
is to know where the councelors "start off" and switch frequently
using the fast ones to explore caves. Also trade wepons before
you die, so the next councellor has a good wepon.

| Re: -1
I think I found an aberration in the game as opposed to how Ryan
did it.
<spoiler follows>
I never went into the cave. There was a message in one of the cottages
in the woods that said fire hurts Jason the most. So I tried to
find a way to get more torches. Here's the tough part. I don't know
what sets off the messages but if you get the message of "There's
a machete in the cave" in the cabin to the left of the screen (just
below the small loop) that sets off a message in the cain to the
far right of "There's a torch in one of the cabin's by the lake".
From there you get the torch. The first time I killed Jason I had
5 of the counselors with torches.
First. Kill Jason as slowly as possible in the first rack. That'll
give you more time to get more couselors around to all the cabins.
Protect the children at all costs. You'll need at least 11 by the
third rack to win.
Second. After the first rack the ONLY place to fight Jason inside
is to protect the children. After the first few seconds he'll slow
down and you can defeat him. Whenever you're attacked, move your
couselor outside, stay far to the left and fight Jason out there.
His power will decrease faster and you will definitely get hits
on him as opposed to staying inside.
Third. Into the third rack. As long as you've got more than 11 children
left (and you have multiple torches) you're in good shape. DO NOT
try to rescue any children unless the number is under 5. Wait for
him to attack a counselor and again move to the outside to take
him on.
I know it's different but it's worked twice for me. Again the only
problem is solving what sets up the messages.
Good luck!!!

Subj: RE: The rooms in the cabins...THANKS for your help!
Ken,
Ok, I understand now. It IS difficult and takes a while to get the hang
of it.
To explore the cabin, walk the counselor all the way until you come to
the wall. turn right and keep repeating until it looks like a room you've
already been in, then start exploring to the left side. It seems the
landmark to watch for is the full wall with no windows on it. USUALLY
when you come to this wall, go left and it will start to bring you back
to the door of the cabin. One hint (and it helps): all the cabins are
constructed indentically, so once you start getting the hang of getting
in and out, it works for all of them.
If you need more just let me know. It's a very frustrating game, but
still one of my favorites because of the difficulty.
Good luck.

| I just started playing this game so I'm not sure of
a couple of things ! How many times do you have to kill
Jason ? I killed him or drove him off with Mark in the first
five minutes the second time I played and a message was
displayed that said "You Have Won For Now " . I was in a
small cabin with Crissy and was unable to move after this
for a couple of minutes, the game then resumed and when I
left the cabin Jason jumped me and snuffed Mark out. Is this
the normal pattern for this game ? Do you have to kill Jason
several times to finally get rid of him just like in the movies ?
Or does he always come back ?? No spoilers please just a little
info. Tanx

| Jim,
If you don't fight Jason inside the cabin, you will almost always
get jumped when you leave. Watch Jason's life meter when you confront
him. The more powerful the weapon you use in fighting him the faster
his life will be depleted. It *does* take multiple confrontations
to beat him.
However, you are still in for some surprises!!
Good luck. It's *still* one of my favorite games.

times (actually just scared him away I think). Also, I have

| I guess I'm just slightly ahead of you with Jason, Jim. After you
master hand to hand combat with Jason, then you can take a look at his
life meter, just like your counselers life meters. Yes, Jason can die!
BUT... just as you'd think, he'll come back stronger than ever. And
that's where I am. Hand-to-hand is much harder this time around, and
he's wiped my poor counselers out quickly every time.
One nice thing about killing him for real the first time, all your
surviving counselers get completely regenerated, so if one's weak,
don't let him/her get killed, use someone else in anticipation of
surviving.

| I'm not sure I have actually killed Jason even once !!! I'll check his
life meter next time I get the "You win for now" message and see how
low it is. The reason for this change of mind is that I don't remember
my counselors getting recharged at any point in the game. How do you
keep track of large cabins and their fireplaces ? I have only lit all
the fireplaces a couple of times because I lose track and keep
returning to the same cabins over and over. Maybe I need to keep a
chart when playing !!!

| Jim,
It's been a while but try this. Use the same route for each counselor.
Start at the upper left of the screen and work your way down to the
lower right. That way if you have to change counselors you tend to
remember better where you left off and where to go next. You always
get that little "blip" sound when you light a new fireplace.
Hope this helps.
