240.0. "Games, Companies, & Accessories" by CURIE::STAPLETON () Wed Mar 22 1989 23:55

For those that do not subscribe to Nintendo Power, the following three
replies is a list of:

.1	the games available for the NES
.2	the companies that create the games etc.
.3	the accessories available for the NES

This information is from the March/April 1989 issue of the Nintendo Power
magazine.

You can send me corrections (by mail), and I will eventually get around to
fixing the replies. Send mail to ryn::stapes.

This note is suitable for printing on 80 column paper. There are embedded
formfeeds within, and all pages are less than 60 lines. You can extract
this with the /NOHEADER switch, and send it right to the printer.

# of Players S: Play is simultaneous
			A: Play alternates

The "Athletic World" game claims "1 S" for # of players. That's the way
it was in the magazine. I know it doesn't make sense, and you know it
doesn't make sense, so don't send me a mail message that it is wrong. I
already know.

All other data should be self explanatory.

Also, I noticed that all games by Tengen are missing from the list. Perhaps
they didn't get the information to Nintendo Power in time for publication.
They are also missing from the list of companies.

Yes, I know that Tengen is missing from the list, but they were not in the
Nintendo Power magazine.

Notes:

Koei Corporation and Seika Corporation share the same address (exactly).
Konami Inc. and Ultra Software Corporation share the same telepone number.

I don't know if these are errors or misprints or what. That is the way
it was printed in the magazine. I didn't notice any other anomalies.

240.4TENGEN possiblitySAHQ::SCHULTZCraig SchultzThu Mar 23 1989 15:3913
Just a side thought as to perhaps why TENGEN is missing. They mainly
see to produce versions of ATARI games software for the NES (ie:
Gauntlet). In a prior note there was a long discussion of a lawsuit
between ATARI games and Nintendo regarding Nintendo purposely limiting
the production of games to keep the price of software high.

If TENGEN is tied closely to ATARI games, it would stand to reason
that Nintendo would not go out of their way to support and publicize
    TENGEN products.

    Just a thought...

Actually, the association may even be closer than that. Tengen might
just be another name Atari operates under, or a subdivision or other
corporate connection. I seem to recall something like that being
    mentioned.

I saw an ad in a magazine recently that showed an accessory which plugs
into a VCR and allows you to run games software for Nintendo, Sega, and
even PC's. No price was given. Anyone have more info?

That ad is in Games magazine, and is one of their frequent entries

A machine which plays all computer games is, as we all know, impossible.

Great Idea though for a midnight hack.

Thanks for the tip. I just started receiving "Games" as a gift. I
