200.1 | A very dusty game! | HPSTEK::SCHWARTZ | | Wed Feb 01 1989 08:38 | 7 |
| It (Cobra Command) gathers a lot of dust in my son's game rack.
I have not seen Rampage in any stores yet.
I bought Cobra Command for Xmas as other games were hard to find.
I played it once and was very disappointed. Features are poor
(continue, nopassword, graphics, etc.)
This is only my impression. Another may love it.

Rampage and Skate or Die were available at Toys r us in Manchester
N.H. this past weekend. There must have been at least 50 of each
and about 2doz Blades of Steel.

200.3 | Helicopter wars! | DNEAST::DUMAIS_BOB | | Fri Feb 03 1989 07:05 | 14 |
| I rented this game a few weeks back. Never completed the game but
had fun playing. Got through level 4 but could not get past the sea battles
once we got into that world. I thought that the guided missiles were awesome.
This game is a tough shootm' up game, good graphics, good game interaction
with the prisoners you pick up in the overworld in communication mode.
The thing I don't like about the game is the way you continue.
There are three continues to each game. Once you use up your continues
you must start over at level 1. Password features are so much better.
I would rate this game a 6+ after playing two nights. Again,
this is a difficult game! You will be destroyed many times before you
figure out the patterns the enemies use to defeat you.

Hi Bob,
Where the heck are the other underground caves on the first
screen? I found one right after the lake and have landed several
other spot with the message saying I was near, but I could never
find them. I have been shooting everything! What gives!

200.5 | Level One Undergrounds C.C. | DNEAST::DUMAIS_BOB | | Mon Feb 06 1989 15:45 | 24 |
| Hi Ed,
I haven't played this game for some time now but here go's! Let me
know if this is of any help to you.
Spoilers on level one undergrounds to follow.
After you cross the lake and you come to what looks like a building
you must shoot the upper portion of the building. You can tell that your
getting hits on the thing because the whole screen shakes like there was an
earthquake goin' on. As soon as you get enough hits on it, the top will open
so you can maneuver the helicopter down the shaft. There is a place
underground where your energy will be restored and you will gain a new weapon.
You must also save several prisoners.
Once you get through this underground there will be another in this
level. If I remember correctly it's as far right as you can go, and again you
must hit the correct point on the structure to reveal the shaft. If you
complete the second underground area you will progress to level 2 after all
the prisoners have been rescued.
Hope this helps.

200.6 | Rampage.. First Impressions | SPUD::GAYF | | Wed Mar 15 1989 09:55 | 22 |
| I just picked up Rampage for my sons, and they can't seem to put
it down. The graphics in the game are very good, and game action
is very close to the arcade. The game supports 1 or two players
with 128 cities that have to be pulverized. I played the game for
about an hour, and after destroying half the U.S. cities I began
to get bored with it. I would say the real fun in this game comes
from competing with each out. And while the helicopters, tanks
and military increase their attacks as you go thru the cities, the
cities themselves do not change all that much. You do get a different
array of buildings to destroy with each new screen, but if you look
closely they are the same building from the last screen, only
rearranged. Both monsters (the ape and the lizard) can actually
do each other in, and in fact when one turns back to human form
the other monster can eat him! This has cause some heated discussions
between my boys.. I would consider this game more orientated toward
the younger players. If you are into hi-speed arcade or games with
a lot of strategy this game will probably be a disappointment. However,
if you like to destroy buildings, tanks, military personel, and
generally spread havoc, or you like to compete amoungst yourselves
then this game is one you will enjoy.

Hi I have played Rampage. Its a interesting game but you can get
pretty bored because you get to notice that the buildings and the
screens just repeat themselves over and over again. You get unlimited
guys. When you die just press A and B buttens and you will appear. I
have beat this game. Its very time consuming and it took me 1 hour and
45 minutes to beat it. I would rate it a 5 and would not reccomend to
by it and rent it first because it probably will collect dust.

200.8 | Anymore on Cobra Command? | SCRIBE::COTE | | Mon Apr 24 1989 11:39 | 15 |
| I just picked up Cobra Command this weekend. I like the game so
far, but it's very difficult. I also think the instructions are
vague and seem to have some mistakes in them.
Can anyone tell be how to continue the game after I've lost all
my "lives"? I get to the "continue screen", select yes, and then
go non-linear trying to do what the instructions say to do.
I like the game, but after 10 minutes I turned the volume off on
the TV. The music/sound track is very grating on the nerves.
Thanks in advance.

200.9 | continuing | NEXUS::MARZULLA | | Mon Apr 24 1989 20:00 | 11 |
| re.8
You are continuing the correct way but I think you must be in
the first mission of the game. When you die the last time and continue
the game, you start off in the beginning of the current mission..
I haven't played this game in along time because it was driving
me to the funny farm..It took me awhile to get the hang of it, in
fact it frustrated me so much that I gave it to my brothers in CT.
Good Luck,
Steve

200.11 | "Hatch on the bullet needs to be hosed" | MAGIC::COTE | | Mon May 01 1989 11:22 | 14 |
| In the 2nd underground you go to the left. As soon as you clear
the girder structure you'll get shot at by a tracked missle launcher.
If you can blow it away, keep moving left until you see......
a thing shaped like big bullet standing vertically. On top of
this "bullet" is the outline of something that looks like a hatch.
Guess what happens when you hose this hatch.
If you have anymore questions, let me know.

I realize this is not a very popular game, but my mother has it and can
get to what she thinks is almost the end. It would save her alot of
frustration if someone who has finished the game could answer the
following question.
<Spoiler Question>
She needs help getting past what we think is in world 4, where the beams
are shot at you from the top and the bottom. To give you a better idea
as to where this is I can tell you its past the spaceship, past the
place where you have to go through backwards, and past the large room
where you have to land on a shelf to resue some prisoners.
She says that there are at least two sets of beams. If you die in the
first set and continue, they won't shoot at you any more. But the second
set always shoot her down.
She says that its got to be right at the end ( of course it always seems
that way when you can't get past a certain obstacle :-} )
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks
