| This is one of my favorite arcade games. It sounds like they recreated
it pretty accurately.
Question: Is it easy to see the moves that you and the opponent
make? That is, are the two opponents clearly defined and do they
move the way you expect them?
The reason I ask is becuase I tried that game "Renegade" and I found
that you really could'nt tell what moves you were making and that
it was hard to defend against attacks. It seems like I was just
randomly pushing buttons if ya know what I mean.

| re:1
I've never played the arcade version, but the moves seem pretty
clear to me.You can tell the difference between a front round
kick and a back r.kick, and between a sweep and a low kick.Is this
what you mean?As far as the controls go,I don't have too much
trouble making the moves I plan on,but sometimes its easy
to miss one of the buttons when trying to press A and B together.
I have the advantage controller, but the ones included in the
NES seem to work better.I also have trouble throwing a low
kick.Press down and I think B.It keeps throwing front kicks,
to the right and B.I suppose with practice I'll figure it out.
I like the talking ref too.
How do you beat those flying things in the bonus rounds?I've tried
jumping,blocking,kicking,I always get knocked out.It's
lunch time, have to go home and practice up.

| That's what I meant. It was hard to determine what moves you made
in Renegade, which is why I don't own it.
The Karate game sounds good. I'll probably buy it. You should be
able to jump or duck those flying things....

| Jim,
I tried avoiding the flying dodad's at first.I could usually
duck under the high ones, but couldnt stay airborn long enough
to get over the low ones. Then theres the ones that come down
the middle.....Anyhow,the direction booklet claims theres extra
points for surviving these rounds and also for desroying the
objects. At least you dont lose points for failing in these
rounds.
Tried again at lunch, havent gotten past round 4 yet.Starting
to get some combinations together anyway. If I could just remember
how to turn around when the red guy gets behind me.Oh well,
I'll try for #5 tonight.I knew I shouldnt have bought another
game 'till I finished Metroid!

164.5 | I spit on my nitendo | GUCCI::HERB | AL | Thu Dec 08 1988 18:38 | 7 |
| I have the nitendo version and have played the arcade. The only
difference between the two is the scenes and the anamation is not
as good as the arcade. I prefer epyx's World Karate Champion (not
for nitendo) over the arcade and nitendo verion of karate champ.

164.6 | It's over. | TRUPUT::JWILLIAMS | Welcome to the Bush League | Wed Dec 21 1988 11:46 | 6 |
| I was about to turn the machine over the other night, but decided
to quit at around 400,000. I really wish they would work on smarter
opponents. I am not going to spoil this game. It is pretty good,
but it becomes too easy too quickly.

164.7 | 1 on 1 plus beer=fun | SALEM::DAUTEUIL | | Tue Dec 27 1988 09:36 | 16 |
| I've had a couple of weeks to play this game since starting
this topic and it does get a little boring, especially playing
against the machine.Head to head is a lot more fun,and it
doesnt take long for new players to figure out the controller.
The limited number of screens gets boring after a few times
around, but with a few friends and a bunch of brews,it's fun
for a couple of hours.(then in goes Xevious!)

P.S. I "lost" my booklet for Karate Champ and I
