163.0. "Need to know more about S.M.B.'s 2 ! !" by BOARDS::MONDALTO () Tue Dec 06 1988 11:22

    I purchased a NES about six months ago,and my children and i really
    enjoy it,what a great investment.My daughter is 8,and my son is six.
    It is amazing how these kids can get to so many places,that i find
    rather difficult.We enjoy SUPER MARIO BROS.,ZELDA,DUCK HUNT and
    RAD/RACER.I would like to know where i can purchase S.M.B's 2.I
    went to K-BEE toys,LECHMERE,CALDORS,& ZAYRES,and they told me that
    they do not have it in stock.

    I played MARIO BROTHERS six weeks ago,and not knowing it i played
    from 8:00 P.M. to 2:30 A.M.. Time goes by when your having fun.

163.1SMB2/ZELDA HUNTSCOVAX::MONOCCHIWed Dec 07 1988 08:2510
    Easier said then done. Right now, SMB2 and Zelda, The adventure
    of link are the two hottest Nintendo cartridges on the market, and
    are scarce. I have been looking for Link for about a month now with
    no success, and I suspect it will get more difficult as Xmas gets
    closer. You will probably have better luck trying to get a store
    to order it for you. A company called Trysoft was recommended to
    me. Their number is 1-800-877-6274. Also, read note 56.23.

    Good luck

163.2Is that number still working?SLSTRN::GOULDWed Dec 07 1988 09:067
    I have tried calling 1 800 877 6274 for a week and a half now and
    all I get is a re order ( sounds like a busy signal but is more
    rapid) I have tried from inside DEC, pay phone in the lobby, Pay
    Phones when I go out at noon when I can... what gives?? Has anyone
    reached them from the Maynard/Stow area lately??

163.3ySCOVAX::MONOCCHIWed Dec 07 1988 09:163
    I have been told that this number is busy a lot and its hard to
    get in. You just have to keep trying.

163.5Trysoft 800 Number Does Work (sometimes)CIMNET::TOMPKINSWed Dec 07 1988 11:509
    The "800" number for Trysoft DOES work, at least occasionally.
    After trying all day, I reached them after 5 PM yesterday. It turns
    out that this number is a U.S. Sprint, rather than AT & T number.
    Wonder if this has anything to do with the difficulty of getting
    through? By the way, as of yesterday, they did still have SMB II
    for $42.95 plus shipping, and promised delivery via UPS in 7 working
    days. Wonder if the SMB II shortage is just an East Coast problem??

163.6Maybe its me??SLSTRN::GOULDThu Dec 08 1988 08:5114
    It must be me!!! I called the 206-867-0941 number after reading
    it here yesterday. It rang 3 times and a guy picked it up and said
    his name. I said " Hi I would like to order some Nintendo Games",
    he said "SAY WHAT"? He told me I had reached the Marketing Department
    at Try Soft and they don" tkae orders and how in hell did I get
    this number, I told him a co worker and to brace himself for more
    calls. He was not happy!!
    He gave me the 6885 number and the 800 number to call. I asked him
    if he would transfer me and he said NO. So I tried the 6885 number
    until 10:30 EST last night, BUSY all day and the 800 number was
    the same as before for me (reorder, rapid busy signal)

    SO will try again today.... Maybe it is me??

163.7Mine is on the way.STOWMA::LAFLAMMERick LaFlammeThu Dec 08 1988 11:392
    I just ordered over the 1-206-881-6885 number and got in on the 3 ring.
    try it now!!!
163.8Possible truth: SMB II has been discontinuedLANDO::BILAFERsay La VThu Dec 08 1988 12:268
    Just heard a nasty rumor about SMB II. My father attempted to buy
    SMB II from a distrubitor that he knows. He was told that this
    cartridge is going for $90 to $100 in New York City. It seems that
    they have discontinued SMB II for unknown reasons. So all you
    people out there who want this game, better order quickly.

    Sounds like an excuse to sell a $45.00 cartridge for double the
    price.
163.11It wasn't me.. I made it!!SLSTRN::GOULDThu Dec 08 1988 15:1822

    Do any of these mail order places have a list of the games they
    stock, or do they send one with an order? If so, and if anyone
    has such a list, can you send me a copy please? Thanks.

163.19Penny's cancelled on meCSC32::E_VAETHWed Jan 04 1989 15:488
    This may be location specific. But I had ordered both SMB II and
    Link from the J.C. Penny's catalogue in October of 88. They called
    me late November to tell me that they were cancelling the order and
    were no longer going to offer the items out of the catalogue due
    to the difficulty of obtaining them. I told them 'thanks a lot!!'.
     I am in Colorado Springs and I don't know if that applies to all
    areas. They are listed in the big catalogue, give them a call and
    see what they say.

163.22Sold on TrysoftHBO::BLAISDELLTax tax here...tax tax thereThu Jan 26 1989 12:4211
       After wasting enough time and effort searching the so-called
     Nintendo "headquarters" (otherwise known as Childworld, Toys R'
     Us, and KayBee Toy) for SMBII, I used the toll-free number to
     Trysoft last night. Got through after a couple of tries, and
     put an order in for the game. The game was delivered to the house
     just before lunch today!! It came Federal Express. That is impressive.
     Price is still 47.99. They didn't have Simon's Quest in stock
     however. 8^( They told me two weeks.
