| I have never heard of the this game, Xevious. What's it all about?
Would an 8 year old enjoy it?

| re. .-1
The game has to do with Solvalou fighters flying over the XEVIOUS
enemy territory. The player controls the Solvalou with its antiaircraft
missiles and surface bombs. Over all I think the game is very hard
and difficult to keep up with the speed of the game and all the
activities and take place in the screen. The most score I got up
to now is 132,000 but I think an 8 year old could probably beat this
in a day.

| I like this game. I have played it many times in the arcade. And
I was surprised to see that all the little bonus points and ships
were still to be found in the home version. The game does get quite
hard at times, and the endgame is down right hard.....

| Extra solvalou spoiler follows:
In the area with the flying metal plates, there is the harbor
that is connected to the ocean by a river.Bomb the water
from the harbor across the inlet stream to the ocean.Somewhere
in there is a yellow flag that will give you an extra ship. You
have to stay even with the stream though.
Also, there is a hidden silo on the far shore of the I think
second river you cross.Just bomb the shore and it shows up.
If you find any more, post 'em here.
Mike
P.S. During the demo game,I have seen another silo brought out.I've
only seen it once and dont remember where it was.You might
want to watch it between games to try and see it.

152.6 | more hidden things | EST::REN | | Mon Feb 13 1989 17:19 | 31 |
| I used to play Xevious at the beach during the summer when I was
back in high school so I bought the game cartridge as soon as I
saw it. It's really great; just like the original (though it seems
to me that the aim in the Nintendo version is a lot more forgiving
than in the original). Anyways I found a few more hidden flags and
silos.
Hidden flags and silo spoiler follows:
There is a flag near the beginning in the first horizontal river
you cross (this is not counting the slanted river that runs into
the first ocean near the very beginning). I must have bombed across
this river 10 times before I found it (there's a lot of area there).
I also vaguely recall finding one in the first ocean and river mentioned
above, but I could just be mistaking it for the one mentioned above.
There is another hidden silo in the section that ends with the big
thing on the ground (can't remember what it's called off hand) that
appears with lots of the black spheres. It's about halfway through
that section where there are two round targets on the left (one
is the kind that fires), two vertical roads with a thin road connecting
them, and a "tank" coming down the road on the right. Bomb the ground
just past the top side of that narrow road, about halfway between
the vertical roads to make the silo appear.
That's all I've found so far. Post any more that you might find.

152.7 | help? | EST::REN | | Wed Mar 22 1989 17:37 | 19 |
| Has anyone gotten to the part right before the second ageanesis
thing (the second big ground thing that appears with lots of those
black balls)? It's the part where two framework cubes fly to your
ship and spin around just in front to either side of your nose.
Their spinning slows down and stops and then they come together
to form a diamond and fly away (faster than your shots). After a
few seconds, a large black sphere comes in from the top of the screen
and explodes into 20 "bullets" of which four or five actually curve
towards your ship. I die here about 8 out of every 10 times I get
there.
My question is: What do those spinning framework "cubes" do? I have
tried experimenting with and shooting them, but haven't figured
anything out.
Can anyone help?

152.8 | Black Sphere | FINALY::HAYNESRE | The SUNBELT Kid.. | Mon Mar 27 1989 11:53 | 13 |
| Those spinning cubes in hte real arcade game, as well as in the
Nintendo game do nothing but give you a break in the action. The way I
find helpful to defend against the large black sphere immediately after
the spinning cubes is to start shooting from the lower left corner,
moving back and forth from the left side to the center. It seems that
the sphere usually comes down on this side.
Spoiler (sort of...)
Just a small warning, there are three such sphere's not long after the
mother ship.
