115.0. "Nintendo cartridge rental" by ISTG::NG () Tue Aug 09 1988 20:59

    Is there a nintendo cartridge rental shop around Malborough area
    or any where in Mass? I hate to go and buy a cartridge and then
    find that I don't like it I rather rent first then buy it if it
    is nice. Anyone out there want to rent their cartridge? I am willing
    to pay $5 for a week rental.

    In Marlboro, there is a place on Main St (the Marlboro Smoke Shop).
    They rent videos and also rent Nintendo cartridges for $1 per night
    I think. It's located before you get to Chin's Garden on the right
    hand side if you are travelling towards Sudbury.

    Oooh, that sounds pretty crafty. I would guess that renting a game
    is different from renting something like a movie... A movie, you
    see it once, and you bring it back the next day. But if you rent
    a game, if you happen to get hooked on it, you might be lured into
    renting it a few nights.

115.4Yes! Rent First!SPUD::GAYFMon Sep 12 1988 13:4511
    Actually I rent them to see if they are worth the selling price.
    At .99 a night its a small price to pay to avoid what could possibly
    be a very expensive (read:purchased) dud. So far I have rented Jaws
    and Load Runner. Both are cute games, but compared to others definitely
    not worth the price they want to purchase them. I guess it also
    serves to ease my curiosity as to what the games are all about, and
    to see if the games have anything different about them. I highly
    recommend renting before purchase. At $35.00 to $50.00 per game
    you want to make sure that what you get is worth the money!

    area?

    We live in Billerica and the drug store (Drug Mart) in the Billerica
    Mall now rents nintendo cartridges. Don't know if that is close
    enough for you, but at least it's in the area. They also sell cartridges.

    We find that most Video Rental places also have Nintendo Cartriges
    for rent. Including Video Excellence in Southboro, Movies and More
    in Marlboro. But the real thing is in Hopkinton. This is the guy
    that has cartriges and loans them out to Video Rental Stores. He
    is like "the source". He also has one more "FEATURE" he will Trade
    a game with you. So if you have a game you are tired of, he may
    trade with you if they are the same price, or let you pay the price
    difference.

    The bad news is my son can't remember the name and my wife is not
    home. So consider this a clue, the rest is just like playing a game.
    Go find him if you can.

    (Spoiler to be added some future day if you all don't find it first)

115.9Steve in Hopkinton MA *is* the source!CRUISE::JBONINMon Mar 27 1989 14:348
    re: .8

    The "source" in Hopkinton is Steve, forgot his last name, but he
    *is* the place to get Nintendo, new, used, trade. He is also the
    "source" for movies. Many video stores get there tapes from Steve
    rather than go to eve STAR VIDEO which is also in Hopkinton.
