Could someone tell me the name of any football games for the NES??
I would really like to find one that can be played by two players
"head to head".

10 Yard fight - A head to head football game.
It really isn't that good, though. Passing is very difficult, and
you can't pick your formation or receiver route. You just take
what the computer gives you for a line up. The defender gets a
choice of a linebacker to control (2 choices), and the guy on
offense can lateral right or left, or pass to the receiver.
The receiver always starts on the right side, and goes in motion
to the left. When you want him to stop, you press button A.
Then he goes out (straight) 10 yards and waits forever.
Also, the game does not understand the 3 dimensional nature of
football. Any opposing player between the passer (either the QB
or one of the running backs) and the receiver will intercept the
ball. (Boo)
If anybody out there has this game, I would like to know how
to punt or try for a field goal. My cartridge came without
instructions.

to punt pull back on the joystick, or press down on the controller
after hiking the ball then you will get an arrow, and you can punt
or kick. Field goals you will have to be within the 25 to have
a chance.

I was also disappointed with the 10 Yard Fight Football
game. I was rather bored with it the second day I used
it. There doesn't seem to be any challenge in playing
against the "computer". Even in the Super Bowl level!
In response to the question about how to punt or kick:
at the start of your play you should press down on the
A button and the down direction key at the same time.
This puts you in kick mode. Then press the A button
again to kick.
