18.0. "Educational Games?" by LINCON::WOODBURY (OK, now you can panic.) Wed Nov 11 1987 15:51

	I have found that the local Toy's R Us and a number of other stores
here in Atlanta have Nintendo cartridges, but they all seem to be adventure
games.  Since I have a 2 1/2 and a 5 year old, I was looking for some
moderately low level educational games. Any ideas on where to look?

18.1Hope this helps!BCSE::ROWLETTWed Nov 11 1987 16:4414
    You might want to try:

    			1. Duck Hunt (need to purchase the gun)
                        2. Gryromite (easy enough to understand)
    			3. exite bike (for the 5 year old)

    Maybe someone out there knows if the box list recommended ages on
    it's cover.

    "The keeper of the Den"

    I must apologize, you did asked for educational games. Maybe
    I can find the address of a company name EDU-LINK out of Chicago
    that are geared to the little ones.

18.3Donkey Kong Jr. MathPROSE::FLAHERTYFri Nov 27 1987 15:287

    The only game that is made by nintendo that is an educational game
    is Donkey Kong Jr. Math. Its hard to find because the demand is
    so low, and stores don't carry games that don't sell.

    I. It's an oldy but it's good for a change of pace.

    Does anyone have a Donky Kong Math game their kids have outgrown
    and they wish to part with?

    I have seen, and am thinking of getting the Sesame Street 123 and ABC
    carts. They seel for between $27 and $34 around here.

    I thought the Mickey Mouse would be a good one, but the reviews don't
    speak highly of it, nor do they indicate it is educational.

    Any others?

    This isn't really GEARED at learning, but I think that LOLO I,and II
    (never played III) teach a LOT in the way of problem-solving. They're
    mazes with various monsters, and you have to block the monsters to
    capture hearts, to clear the room. None of the screens have a "DO THIS
    FAST BEFORE THEY KILL YOU!", and there's no time/vitality to it. LOTS
    of hours have been spent staring at a room trying to figure out HOW to
    block 8 monsters with only 3 blocks - or get across the water and back
    with enough shots to finish clearing the room, or in the right place.
    I'd say ~7 and up, although my 5 year old does real well on the more
    obvious rooms.
