| The two mathematical languages with graphical interfaces that I know of are
Mathematica and MathCAD. Mathematica is more functional and runs on several
different architectures (but I don't know the full list), but costs several
hundred bucks. MathCAD runs on DOS/Windows (and maybe Macs), I bought it for
$79.00 and its actually fairly impressive.
Of course, if you are dealing with non-symbolic stuff, a spreadsheet might
be able to do what you want just fine...

| Hi Richie
Many thanks for the reply. I'll look into those packages. One quick
question, do these packages produce any output code ie C or C++ ?

iam not sure what you asking for, if you are asking for a mathematics
typesetting system, then the best one is "Scientific WOrd" (or
Science word) for the DOS/windows, it is by far the best for
writing mathematics and scientific papers, books etc.. it
generates LATEX output (i.e text files
that can be mailed, editing etc..) then you can view the LATEX file
on the screen and then you can generate a .PS
file and print it, it also support HP jet-ink compatible printers.
if you want to do heavy duty scientific and mathematical writing, then
this is what you want, there is also just came out a diagram package
i think it is called (TEXdraw or something like that, so you can
make diagrams easily in your papers) etc..

| Hi
No I am not looking for a typesetting program. It sounds like
mathematica might be the program I am looking for. I am looking for a
program that I can easierly construct mathematical equations, and then
the program would solve the equation when I add the variables into it.
Do this instead of writing C code to do the same thing.

| Re .4:
I recommend Maple of Mathematica. The Windows version of Mathematica
is very buggy; I had to return it. The student version of the latest
release is available now for about $100. However, these programs might
be overkill; they are for heavy-duty mathematics. If you just want
something to solve equations numerically, MathCAD might be a better
alternative.
Perhaps you could enter some examples of what you want to do.
