A potential customer is interested at buying VAX 9000 (running Ultrix)
for their scientific computation. However, they need 2 packages which
are not availble either for VAX or for Ultrix.
If you know of any math package on Ultrix which can provide similar
functionalities, please send me VAXmail.
FIDISOL (not available for VAX )
A FInite-DIfference SOLver for solution of non-linear systems of
2-D and 3-D elliptic and parabolic PDE's in a rectangular domain
(or any domain which can be tranformed to a rectangular domain by a
non-singular coordinate transformation).
FIDISOL was primarily for solution of large problems ( eg. 5000+
variables) on vector computers.
FMS (not available on Ultrix)
Fast Matrix Solver is layered on top of Digital Extended Math Lib
and fully supports multiple vector processor units.

there is also a package called FISHPAK free from netlib, for solving
separable elliptic partial DE's .
i dont know anything more about it.
