1560.0. "Multigrid/level Course near Bonn Germany June 22-26" by OSITEL::BRITTAIN (Peter, TCC Munich @UFC 865-3102) Fri Feb 07 1992 09:21
Hello folks,
Well, possessing the mathematical abilities of a slug on valium I never
thought I'd ever be putting a note in this conference, but here goes...
For reasons best known to themselves the German National Research Centre for
Computer Science ("GMD - its only three (long) words in German!) have sent me
an invitation to a course they're running in a "Schlo" or castle near Bonn
this June. BUT IT'S ALL IN ENGLISH!
Scope: "...to inform on multigrid approaches and to provide an understanding of
of basic multigrid priciples.." (multigrid appears to be a SW they have
for performing Multilevel /-scalar computational methods)
Target group: "...those interseted in solution methods for partial differential
equations, including numerical analysts, physicists, engineers and those
who need to decide on concepts for numerical software packages."
Mathematical Prerequisite: "A basic knowledge of numerical analysis is necessary
including standard discretisation techniques for partial diff. eqns (fin
ite differences and similar approaches. Familiarity with iterative
solvers for large (sparse) linear systems of equations is recommended."
If anyone can swing it with their managers the Rheinland is a lovely part of
the world in June. Anyone who's interested please MAIL me (see header) and I'll
stick the booklet in the post to you.
regards
pete.
