| If you have a one-shot need for an LP solution, and don't need a production
environment, MAPLE does a nice job on LP minimization.

| Sorry, can't help with the details of LINDO, but it may be useful
to point out that SOFTBASE is a possible starting point for chasing
down these third party products.
It should at least give you the vendor name and address, and a DEC
contact or two. Unfortunately, it usually says nothing about arrang-
ments for internal use ("*Use* it?? Why aren't you *selling* it??"),
so a call to the vendor or DEC contact may help.
There are also hard copy guides to our third-party software solutions;
your local DEC library should have these.

| CPLEX is a simplex LP solver that I know we have here in our Houston ACT (where
we're also benchmarking it and vectorization variants on a 9000). It runs 3X
faster than LINDO and surpasses the 16,000 row limit of MPSX. It uses standard
MPS formats. I don't know what kind of agreements we have with CPLEX but

I also noticed a reference to CPLEX in note 1249.2
One problem that was in the process of being resolved when I was looking for an
IP solver was that it doesn't do automatic branch and bound. So IP's and MIP's
are not fun to do using CPLEX.

or how you solve your problem.

P.S. Realizing that my presumption is you want to solve an LP and not just get
hold of LINDO, I may as well mention MINOS, a public domain LP solver. Where
does one go for public domain SW?
