1081.0. "IEEE <--> VAX floating conversion" by CTCADM::ROTH (If you plant ice you'll harvest wind) Thu May 11 1989 14:56

Does anyone have copies of routines to convert between IEEE floating
format and VAX floating? I know they're "floating" around the
company somewhere.

I want an efficient way of transporting finite element data between
various workstations, including the 3100, Firefox, etc.

Thanks for the pointer. Another person who has done such routines is
Marty Jack. [We actually need single as well as double floating.]

I also stopped at the library and obtained copies of IEEE STD 754-1985
and a few articles from IEEE Computer. The conversion is really quite
easy - but I was unsure of this without checking.
