1060.0. "Probability of 32-bit CRC duplicate generation
" by GSPMO::WALLACE (I bark, therefore I am. -- Descartes dog.) Fri Apr 14 1989 13:00
Having read 713.* I need a good answer to the following problem.
What is the probability of having a 32-bit CRC (VAX CRC instruction)
giving an exact duplicate value for different bit streams under the following
conditions:
CRC calculated over 780 bytes.
One-half of bytes in the 780 are duplicated in other 780 byte values.
The 780 byte values arrive at 10 per second.
The interval of interest is over 60 seconds.
Any pointers/clues will be most appreciated!
Richard
