Has anyone had contact with Jones Polynomials as applied to knot
theory? There have been some recent articles about these being applied
to problems in physics. Are there any refs, books or comments?

Scientific American, November 1990 has an article entitled "Knot Theory
and Statistical Mechanics" by Vaughan F. R. Jones. It may be of
interest although the physics was way over my head. The article also
gives suggestions for further reading.
