I have two math-related questions: 1. The college hire people in Personnel have had a request from a middle school in Framingham. They are looking for someone from Digital who would be willing to talk to 6-8 graders about the importance of math, why they should do their math homework, how important math is with regards to computers, etc. Is there anybody out there who would be willing to do this? 2. I've had a request from a student at Worcester Polytec for a summer internship, preferably with pay, at DEC. She is a math major who will be finishing her second year this spring. I have talked to Personnel, and soon realized that's not the way to go. Can anyone refer me to a person or group who might have a need for a math intern during the summer? Thanks for any help you can provide. Kathy Norton MRO2 Learning Center

How about if you sent the person mentioned under 2.) to 1.) and let her explain about how important math is. Just kidding though, but seriously I can remeber from school that there were many people out there trying to convince me that I have to do my homework in Math and attent the math course, I had always better things to do - actually I was quite miserable - I studied Computer Science... Well I think this is a pretty tough job because you can't tell kids in that age what is good for them and what not. They won't listen not to their teachers and not to someone from DEC. Although I am pretty young I am alot older then these kids ans they won't listen. Julian. |
